1 . When you come to London for a trip, it's best to plan a day out so as to maximize(最大化)the number of things yon can see. Time permitting,we can offer advice by e-mail if there's anything you particularly want to see.
If you are only in London for a day, a weekend or a week, use our SHORT STAY pages where we show you how to fill as much into your days as possible.
The best season to come is late Summer or Autumn —— recently we have been having Indian Summers (秋季的小阳春天气)from mid-September to the end of October with clear blue skies and 20 degree temperatures. Finally the weather breaks as the storm fronts move in off the Atlantic, then clears up for Christmas. February to April can be terrible, and the weather is very unpredictable. Ask the Meteorological office here for facts and figures but they are so often wrong.
When it's raining there are plenty of museums and galleries to visit —— and the tube(地铁)system is generally very good outside of rush hour.
It's best for you to be near a tube station when choosing a hotel, because buses can be slow and unreliable(不可靠的)and taxis expensive. The yellow circle line on the tube map marks the division(分界线)between central and not-so-central London. Outside of that area your transport bill will rise. The best restaurants are in Islington and the southwest of London which is where the life is.

3 . I visited Aruba last week. On the first day, I mainly enjoyed comfortable sunshine on the beaches there. But I needed more than sunshine and sand to fill my week.
I rented a car the next day. One of my first stops that day was the Alto Vista Chapel, a historic north-side Roman Catholic churchy Just as I entered it, a colourful “party bus” filled with singing tourists pulled into the parking lot, ending the silence. So I left soon.
From the church I made my way to the California Lighthouse, named for the steamship California that sank nearby in 1891. After spending some time there, I went to La Trattoria El Faro Blanco, an Italian restaurant that sits on top of the hill and offers scenic views.
I love golfing, so I wasn't going on vacation without spending a day on the courses. The Tierra del Sol Country Club is for golfing on the islands located at its northwest point. Opened in 1995, it is a beautiful place with views of the sea and the California Lighthouse. I spent a full day there.
To completely escape from the other tourists, I booked a four-hour jeep tour for the fourth day. I went to the Arikok National Park, which covers nearly 20 percent of the islands I stood on a cliff and looked down on a natural pool that was formed inside volcanic rock (火山岩). It was amazing.
My final night was spent at Madame Janette Restaurant, Friends who had been to Aruba told me I had to go there. I dined there while listening to a local musician performing the Beatles’ While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It was so good and the crowd demanded more.

Like most English children I learned French at school and I had often been to France, so I was used to speaking a foreign language to people who didn’t understand English. But when I went to America I was really looking forward to having a nice easy holiday without any language problems.
How wrong I was! The misunderstanding began at the airport. I was looking for a public telephone to give my American friend Danny a ring and tell her that I had arrived. A friendly old man saw me looking like being lost and asked if he could help me.
“Yes,” I said. “I want to give my friend a ring.”
“Well, that’s nice,” he said. “Are you getting married? But aren’t you a bit young?”
“Who is talking about marriage?” I replied. “I just want to give my friend a ring to tell her I’ve arrived. Can you tell me where there’s a phone box?”
“Oh!” he said. “There’s a phone downstairs.”
When at last we did meet up, Danny explained the misunderstanding to me.
“Don’t worry,” she said to me. “I had many difficulties at first. There are lots of words which the Americans use differently in meaning from us British. You’ll soon get used to all the funny things they say. But most of the time British and American people can understand each other!”

7 . Ecotourism(生态旅游): A Different Way to Travel
Are you attracted to obscure(偏远的)places? Do you prefer to vacation away from other tourists? Are you careful to take only memories and to leave only footprints? If you answered yes to more than one of these questions, you just might be an ecotourist.
Ecotourists are people who want to experience the unspoiled natural world and leave it that way when they return home. This trend started in the 1990s and ecotourism is now growing three times faster than the tourism industry at large. The Ecuador’s remote Amazon Basin(盆地) is contributing to that expansion, and it gives a snapshot of what ecotourism looks like.
At the Ecolodge, a small group of cabins(小屋) sits Kapawi Ecolodge in the middle of the Achuar people’s reserve(保护区) and is only reached by air. From here, visitors can explore parts of the Amazon rainforest seen by few outsiders. As they do local Achuar guides explain how the forest is like their supermarket, where they find food, clothing, medicine and tools. As a result, tourists learn to appreciate the local culture as well as the natural environment.
The owners of Kapawi pay monthly rent to the Achuar people, but they also train the community to run and manage the lodge. They have agreed on a plan to turn the operation over to the Achuar completely by 2011.The owners are working to make ecotourism benefit and empower the local people.
You probably won’t start your own ecolodge, but you can be an ecotourist if you follow these guidelines: Protect the environment; Support local businesses; Respect the local customs and traditions.
The world is full of fascinating places to visit. As an ecotourist, you can enjoy them yourself and make sure that they remain beautiful for future generations as well.

Berlin, the second most populous city in the European Union, gets the third place on our list. It has three famous airports: Tegel International Airport, Tempelhof International Airport, and Schonefeld International Airport.
The capital of Germany is on this list not only because it is a fantastic place to go on holiday but also since it teaches a very important lesson to humanity(人,人性). The Berlin Wall, the better part of which still remains well kept for educational and amusement(娱乐) aims, reminds us of the extra costs paid by everyone. The Potsdamer Platz, divided into two by the Wall, is a newly developed area that is famous for a large shopping center and movie theatre complexes(混合体), and adds a bit of modern colour to Berlin’s historical value.
Much like the other places that made the list, Berlin is also a city of art. The city has over one hundred and fifty museums in all, and a few of the ones providing an extraordinary experience include the Art Center Berlin Friedrichstrabe, the Museum of Indian Art, and the Museum of East Asian Art.
