2 . To ensure an excellent experience during your tour of the Mark Twain House, here are some guidelines and general information:

To ensure an optimum (最佳) experience, house tours are limited to 14 people, first-come, first-served. If your group has more than 10 people, call (860) 280-3130 to reserve a discounted group tour in advance of your visit. If you have a party of fewer than 10 people feel free to purchase tickets online: We will hold them at Will Call. The tour schedule is usually online about a month in advance.

The Webster Bank Museum Center at the Mark Twain House & Museum is always your first and last stop as it houses our ticket counter, museum store, film, exhibits and cafe. All tours gather in the museum center before heading over to Mark Twain’s historic 1874 home. Mark Twain’s historic carriage house is the third building on our property, but is generally not open to the public. The hayloft (干草棚) has been repurposed into offices and the main floor of the barn is a space available for rent for parties and meetings.

The Mark Twain House offers only a few coupons and discounts. The price you pay for admission helps us maintain the beauty of this icon of American architecture. If you are lucky enough to find one of those special offers online or at your local library, keep in mind they are good only for the general Mark Twain House Tours. No passes or discounts may be applied to our specialty tours.

3 . Summer is the perfect time to relax. As you plan for your trip, here are some tips on how to protect yourself.     1    

There are many mosquito-borne illnesses in tropical regions, which are traditionally vacation hot spots. Therefore, mosquito repellent（驱蚊剂）that contains DEET should be an essential item in your travel bag.

In lesser-developed countries there is less equipment for clean water and public health. If you can't avoid unhealthful water, make sure you bring along a tea or coffee—making pot that will boil water for you. You’d better buy a case or two of water and check that all bottle caps are sealed to assure the bottled water isn't just a refilled bottle of dirty tap water.

It's best to wear slippers in the shower, but if you must be barefoot, put a towel down on the floor.    3    You should never walk barefoot in any area of a foreign country, including your hotel room.

    4     They may have been washed in the same water, or wiped with the same rag used to clean work surfaces in kitchens. The best advice is to bring your own peeler（削皮器）so that you know that something clean has been applied to the fruit.

Unless the food is piping hot when served, it’s best to stay away from roadside stands, no matter how good the smell of the food might be. If you are concerned about whether a restaurant is clean, order the food to go.     5

I’m more than delighting to know you are going to explore the Yangtze River, one of the Mother Rivers of Chinese civilizations.

In my view, only if you take the trip to the Yangtze River can you have better knowledge of the history of China. Naturally, along the river is many attractive scenic spots, all of them are heavy with legends. Every rock looked like a person or animal, and every stream joins the great river carries its legends. I’ve always been attracted by the     1     (beautiful) of Chinese culture and its long history. When we first arrived in China, my friend Tony and I expected a big city     2     (fill) with modern buildings, busy streets and a crowded transport system. But we were pleasantly surprised.

The thing     3     impressed us first was the space. Yes, Beijing is indeed huge, but its wide streets and green spaces made every area feel less crowded.
