My love for Rio started on a girl’s holiday in the year 2006. It was love at first sight. Six months after returning to my hometown of London I decided to leave my job as a Board Director at a public relations (PR) company, packed up everything and moved here.
Unable to continue my profession of PR without the required language fluency. I fell into buying and selling properties while enjoying everything that Rio had to offer. One thing led to another and before long, I had become a property agent and in 2010 set up In Town Property, which today is one of Rio’s top property letting and buying companies.
I’ve always had a deep love for dance and I was immediately drawn to samba. I love its exciting rhythm, and the joy and freedom it offers. On arrival I decided it would be necessary to learn Portuguese but just as important would be samba. Within my first few months living here I had begun samba lessons.
In 2011 I paraded in the Rio Carnival festival for the first time. It was a wonderful experience. I’d never felt more happiness than singing loudly as I sambaed all the way down the street. Since then I have been in the parade every year.
Over the last years, I have had the opportunity to parade with some of Rio’s top samba schools, such as Mocidade, Beija-Flor, and Império da Tijuca. In 2017, I had the great honor of dancing for Império da Tijuca on its first float (花车). It was an unbelievable experience!
I’ m so passionate about this city, carnival and samba. They bring joy to the world and I want to share my love and experience with others. I think everyone needs a chance in life to live out their dreams and can’t wait to bring this magic to you!

4 . Skiing holiday centers
Windy Pine
The ski and snowboard runs here are high in the mountains so you can be sure of lots of good snow, but they are extremely challenging and only for the expert. Skiers can relax after dark in a number of small restaurants. The airport is a two-hour bus ride away.
Ice Mountain
Come to this beautiful spot if you’re new to the sport. Try out easy ski runs under the instruction of qualified teachers-their services are highly priced and many speak several languages including English. Classes are for adults only. Guest houses provide accommodation with breakfast and evening meals. The center is reached by train.
Fairview
This historic mountain town has much for visitors to see. The slopes don’t attract expert skiers, but are suitable for those wishing to improve their basic skills. English-speaking instructors charge a lot, and hiring equipment is very expensive. This center isn’t recommended for children. The airport is nearby.
Bear Point
This center is a favorite with skillful young skiers who have limited money. Accommodation is reasonably priced and there’s a variety of evening entertainment. However, it’s hard to find a good instructor and you can’t be certain of the snowfall. Cheap flights go to the local airport.
Mount David
There’s good open skiing here, without too many turns, making it suitable for intermediate(中级的) skiers. Equipment hi re is expensive. Accommodation is of a high standard and there are excellent restaurants, but prices are high. The airport isn’t far away.

5 . Last February, I went on a trip to Switzerland. What a trip! The first morning, I got into a cable car (缆车). I wanted to go to the top of the mountain and ski (滑雪) down. The cable car started up the mountain. Then there was a terrible sound. Soon the car stopped.
It was cold, and it began to snow. I was there for one hour, two hours. I thought, “They’ve forgotten me!” I waited for another hour, and the car started back down the mountain very fast. “Sorry,” an old woman said when I climbed out of the car. “We’ve never had this problem before. Please, try again tomorrow.” “I’ve had enough of cable cars for a lifetime,” I thought.

Last summer, I went on a trip to Australia. On the first day, I went fishing on a beautiful lake. Unluckily, I didn’t catch any fish, and I got bored. I decided to go swimming. When I stood up, my wallet fell into the water. It had all my money and my plane ticket. I jumped into the lake to look for it, but I didn’t find anything.
The next morning, I wasn’t able to leave the hotel. I had no money to pay for anything and no plane ticket to go home. So what did I do? I called my friend and asked for some money. I have never had such a trip!

7 . Sightseeing In London
Worried about the time available. Zhang Pingyu had made a list of the sites she wanted to see in London. Her first delight was going to the Tower. It was built long ago by the Norman invaders of AD 1066. Fancy! This solid stone, square tower had remained standing for one thousand years Although the buildings had expanded around it, it remained part of a royal palace and prison combined. To her great surprise, Zhang Pingyu found the Queen’s jewels guarded by special royal soldiers who on special occasions, still wore the four-hundred-year-old uniform of the time of Queen Elizabeth I.
There followed St Paul’s Cathedral built after the terrible fire of London in 1666 looked splendid when first built! Westminster Abbey, too, was very interesting. It contained statues in memory of dead poets and writers, such as Shakespeare. Then just as she came out of the abbey, Pingyu heard the famous sound of the clock, Big Ben, ringing out the hour. She finished the day by looking at the outside of Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s house in London. The Tower of London Oh, she had so much to tell her friends!
The second day the girl visited Greenwich and saw its old ships and famous clock that sets the world time. What interested her most was the longitude line. It is an imaginary line which is very useful for navigation. It passes through Greenwich, so Pingyu had a photo taken standing on either side of the line.
The last day she visited Karl Marx’s statue in Highgate Cemetery. It seemed strange that the man who had developed communism should have lived and died in London. Not only that, but he had worked in the famous reading room of the Library of the British Museum. Sadly the library had moved from its original place into another building and the old reading room was gone. But she was thrilled by so many wonderful treasures from different cultures displayed in the museum. When she saw many visitors enjoying looking at the beautiful old Chinese pots and other objects on show, she felt very proud of her country.
The next day Pingyu was leaving London for Windsor Castle. “Perhaps I will see the Queen?” she wondered as she fell asleep.
