文章大意:这是一篇记叙文。文章讲述了作者去澳大利亚游玩的经历。

3 . Australia was always a country I wanted to visit, so I saved up some money and booked a flight to go traveling up the east coast of Australia at the end of my work in London.

The flight made me realize exactly how far away Australia is from home. I spent 10 hours traveling on a plane from London to Hong Kong, then a further 8 hours to Sydney, my first stop in Australia. The flight went quite quickly though, since there were lots of films to watch to keep me amused. It was strange when I arrived because everything was upside down over there; it was the start of winter (in May)! It also took me a while to get used to the time difference as I was always one day ahead of all my friends and family back home.

The country is truly beautiful, full of amazing views and wildlife you wouldn’t find anywhere else in the world.

One of my experiences of my trip was seeing koalas closely in Brisbane -- there were koalas everywhere sleeping in the trees and I even got the chance to hold one. There was also big grassland full of kangaroos that we were allowed to feed. They were really smart and very friendly.

The highlight of my trip was snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, as the water as amazingly clear with a beautiful shade of blue. I also got the chance to see some special creatures underwater, such as sea turtles and even a shark.

Australia is an amazing country and worth visiting one day if you ever get the chance.

文章大意:这是一篇记叙文。文章主要介绍了作者一家人的坦桑尼亚之旅及旅途中看到的动物。

4 . During this holiday, my family took a trip to Tanzania. Getting there was really an adventure! We took fifteen different planes. The ride was difficult, but the scenery was amazing. When we arrived, the time difference was difficult to deal with, but after a few nights I got used to it. We stayed in a safari resort (游猎度假村). There were all kinds of noises. But they weren’t ones I was used to hearing; the noises came from animals and insects.

On our first day, we saw a herd of giraffes and two rhinos (犀牛). Our guide Mishi told us that the two black rhinos had been caught and brought here because they were in danger of dying out due to poachers (偷猎者), who wanted them for their horns (角). The two rhinos are not in a zoo but in guarded pens (牲畜栏) of about 100 acres.

The next day, Mishi took us to a river. In it, there are big crocodiles (鳄鱼) and even bigger hippos. After we took pictures, Mishi brought us to a suspension (悬挂) bridge. My family was very nervous about crossing it after seeing what was in the river and there was a sign saying “No more than one person on the bridge each time”. Mishi finally promised us that it was not dangerous, and she was right! We all made it to the other side in one piece.

After we explored a little in the area, we found a long line of ants. I noticed that a few were bigger than the others and these bigger ants were walking next to the line, as if keeping the others in order. Mishi told us that they were called Army Ants and were used by old Tanzanian tribes (部落) for medical treatment. They could live with nature harmoniously.

After many days of fun and great adventure, our trip was over. I am looking forward to going back someday.

1. What did the author have to adapt to at the beginning of his trip?
A.The difficult ride.B.The time difference.
C.The surrounding noises.D.The remote (遥远的) resort.
2. Why are the two black rhinos caught and kept in pens?
A.To attract tourists.B.To get their horns.
C.To protect them from poachers.D.To prevent them attacking the local people.
3. What can we learn about the bridge mentioned in paragraph 3?
A.It is safe to cross.B.It has a long history.
C.It can bear great weight.D.It crosses a lifeless river.
4. What is the best title for the text?
A.The Lovely Wild AnimalsB.An Unforgettable Experience
C.Living with Nature HarmoniouslyD.An Adventurous but Amazing Trip

文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了begpackers现象,以及人们的此现象的看法和一些国家所采取的措施。

5 . If you want to travel on holiday, the very first question you must ask is, “How much is it going to cost?” With little money, you are not going to get very far.     1     Local transport is used, and sleeping is done in tents(帐篷) or not expensive hotels.

However, it seems that many young people have found a different way to see the world. They usually come from a western country and are from well-off families. They pay for a flight from their home to an Asian country, and then try to beg for money once they arrive.     2     It’s become so popular; it has been given its own name: begpacking. It’s a cross between “begging” and “backpacking”.

It is now quite usual to see begpackers sitting on the streets in some of Asia’s popular shopping districts.    3         “I am travelling around Asia without money. Please support my trip.”

In many Asian countries, poverty is never far away. Citizens of popular holiday destinations are asking why visitors arrive on their streets and expect the locals to pay for their travels. When these locals want to travel to a western country, they have to prove that they have enough money to travel.     4

There have been recent reports that some countries are beginning to tire of begpackers. A law was passed in Thailand recently. The local government can now take action against any foreigner begging on the street.     5     There, western begpackers are taken by the local police to their foreign embassy. And then they are returned to their home.

A.It’s so unfair.
B.Something similar has happened in Indonesia.
C.Backpacking costs a traveller a lot of money.
D.They carry with them handwritten cards asking for help.
E.But backpacking is a very popular and inexpensive way to travel.
F.In other words, they want the locals to pay for the rest of their trip.
G.Don’t let a little thing like money stand in between you and your dream trip.

7 . Jesse Kata, the 26-year-old American traveler, arrived in Peru last March, ready to visit Machu Picchu. It was supposed to be the final stop on his around-the-world trip, but then lockdown struck Peru on March16, the day Kata was supposed to start hiking.

He decided to hang around for a few weeks in the hope that it would reopen. He considered some of the emergency evacuation flights back home to America, but found them to be very expensive. Days turned into weeks, then months, and still Kata waited.

He made the best of his time. He rented a small apartment in the town and passed the time taking daily yoga classes, teaching local children how to box, and studying for various fitness and sports nutrition certification exams. He was working towards his goal of opening his own gym back home in America.

Finally, after earning the nickname “the last tourist in Peru”, Kata’s patience paid off. On October 11, he derived special access to Machu Picchu and allowed to enter the ancient site with the country’s culture minister, Alejandro Neyra, and a handful of guides.

It’s an example of slow travel — travel so slow, in fact, that Kata didn’t even go anywhere except to the village at the foot of the Andean Mountains. Rather than rush off on an emergency flight, Kata accepted that sudden slow pace of life and made the best of it, simply fitting into the local community and putting in time. He must have gotten to know Peruvian village life better than he ever imagined-and gained so much more in the process than if he’d taken the quick and easy route home.

1. What can we know about Jesse Kata?
A.He enjoyed taking a short journey.B.He spent more than half a year in Peru.
C.He showed great interest in mountains.D.He was short of money when travelling in Peru.

A.To get to know local physical culture better.B.To coach in a gym back home in America.
C.To go on a long hike to Machu Picchu.D.To prepare himself for running a gym.
3. What does the underlined word “derived” in Paragraph 4 mean?
A.Gained.B.Lost.C.Refused.D.Demanded.
4. What does the author intend to do in the last paragraph?
A.Add some background information.B.Summarize the previous paragraphs.
C.Provide some advice for readers.D.Introduce a new topic for discussion.
