1 . They supposedly swim in remote lakes, hide in dense forests, and walk among snowy mountains. Yet despite being unreal proven by science, cryptids—fantastical beasts that probably don’t exist—have fascinated humans for centuries and gave birth to cryptotourism which boosts the local tourism. North America’s Bigfoot helps generate over $140 million annually for the U.S. economy, according to the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine.
In Nepal, cryptotourism reaches back to the 1950s. It centers on the Yeti. Up to six feet tall and similar in appearance to the Bigfoot, this legendary creature is reported to wander on the snowy peaks of the Himalayas and is a prominent figure in the folk tale of Nepal. Its tale is 6,000 years old. But the furry beast was a regional fairytale until British explorer Eric Shipton claimed to have photographed a 13-inch-long human-like footprint in the snow of Nepal’s Menlung Glacier. Explorers all over the world soon flooded into the Himalayas, competing to detect the cryptid.
Over time, the Yeti became a powerful tourism brand in Nepal. This beast’s foot forms the logo of the domestic carrier, Yeti Airlines, while hotels, restaurants, cafés, and tour companies profit off its name.
Some Nepalis are more skeptical. Sushil, a tour guide, says even as a child he viewed Yetis as a sham. Now, when his customers ask about the monster, he tells them it’s widely considered a myth. Sushil says he dislikes cryptotourism, which steals focus from the country’s remarkable architecture and ancient traditions. “I don’t think the Yeti is a valuable tool to promote Nepal tourism,” he says. “We have a lot of tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Nepal should focus on its rich natural diversity.”
Academics have also offered scientific explanations for the Yeti and other cryptids, yet these legends persist. “People have always been fascinated by things in nature which confuse us, things which we just don’t understand,” says Panday, a Nepali author. “That’s not going to change any time soon.”

4 . Normally museums exhibit only a small proportion of their collections, but the Boijmans Van Beuningen gallery in Rotterdam is the first in the world to display the whole lot.
Housed in a huge mirrored, bowl-shaped depot (仓库) attached to the museum in the Dutch port city, its collection of 151,000 artworks by artists including Vincent van Gogh and Oscar-Claude Monet will be accessible to visitors from Saturday.
“It is the only fully accessible depot, public depot that is open in the world,” museum director Sjarel Ex told AFP as media toured the building to Tuesday ahead of the opening. “What happens here is that you do not follow the script that was written by a curator (馆长). You see things by accident, and you feel that you are discovering things.”
“Normally, only some 6 to 10 percent of collections at major museums around the world like the Boijmans Van Beuningen are on display, and the rest kept in closed storage depots,” said Ex. That will now change for the Rotterdam institution. Visitors will even be able to watch works being restored. “If you do not show the works, people will stop talking about and thinking about an art work. As a result, it is very likely that it is into oblivion—out of sight,” he said.
The project, whose cost was around 92 million euros has mainly been covered by private donations, features five different temperature zones for different types of artworks. The depot was originally created to solve a very serious problem—the possibility of flooding in a low-lying country where a third of the land sits below sea level. The old basement below the museum was likely to let in water, making it unsuitable for storage. “Every building is a moment in time, so this celebrates for sure the climate,” said its architect, Winy Maas. “Why? Because it’s the reason for the existence of this building—the former archives (档案馆) were under water. It was flooding, so we have to bring it up.”

Budapest
Budapest is the capital of Hungary. It's actually made up of the twin cities of Buda and Pest, which are separated by the mighty River Danube. The city is famous for its cafes. There are several good ones to choose from, but you must try either Gerbeaud, or the famous New York Cafe. Order a “somloi galuska", a very rich chocolate dessert. Finally, you can' t leave the city without visiting one of its amazing Turkish baths. Some of them date back to the 16th century.
Bucharest
A fourteen hours train ride east will take you through Transylvania to Bucharest, capital of Romania. Once there, you should visit Mamie's Inn, which is a 19th century caravanserai (an inn built around a large courtyard, which is big enough for caravans). It's located in the Lipscani district (the heart of the city), and it's also a great place to have lunch and a drink.
Sofia
From Bucharest it's only 300 kilometres to Sofia, the Bulgarian capital. The city sits below the massive Vitosha Mountain. Sofia is an ancient place, and parts of the city walls date back to the 7th century BC and can still be seen. It' s also a holy city, and two of its major tourist attractions are churches. The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is well worth a visit, but you should find time for the Boyana Church, a small medieval Bulgarian Orthodox chapel. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has incredible wall paintings dating back to 1259.

My family took an amazed trip to the northwest last summer. At the first ,we flew to Lanzhou but then visited the famous Iron Bridge there.We also tasted Lanzhou beef noodles, which were the most delicious noodles I had never had. Last Sunday, I went on a hike with one of my best friend, Kevin. I got up early that morning and prepare lots of food in my lunchbox and then I went Kevin’s home to pick him up.
