There is so much more to learn about the interesting history and culture of the United Kingdom. Studying the history of the country will make your visit
2 . The grocery store might not be your favorite place to visit when you’re at home, but isn’t it ever fun when you’re in another country? Honestly speaking, they’re one of those strange little destinations that I like to sniff out everywhere I go, much as other travellers head toward clothing stores, libraries, cafés or galleries.
The biggest beauty of the grocery store—whether it’s a huge supermarket or a tiny one—is that it gives you a glimpse into what local people buy to cook. This offers clues into their lifestyles and preferences, and into the agricultural and cooking practices of the country. I stare at the strange fruits and vegetables, the seafood, the cheese, the spices, the breads, and oh, the chocolate... always the chocolate!
Being an environmental nerd ( 痴 迷 者 ) I am, I like paying attention to packaging, which can reflect their attitude towards environmental protection. Italy, for example, has a habit of requiring customers to bag their fruits and vegetables in plastic for weighing, while Sri Lanka leaves everything loose in bins. In Brazil, everything is prepackaged in a layer of plastic.
People in grocery stores tend to be friendlier. They smile, say hello, and sometimes ask questions, which can lead to great conversations. I had a further discussion with a teen-aged cashier in Sri Lanka, over which bag of crunchy mix to buy. He insisted that the one labeled ‘spicy’ would be too hot for me, but I told him I was willing to risk it. He laughed and we ended up talking about my favorite Sri Lankan foods for ten minutes.
The financial savings extend to souvenirs, too. Whether it is ground spices for my mom or chocolates for my kids, the grocery store is the first place I look for unique gifts. It’s interesting then to come home and look at one’s own local grocery store through new eyes. What would a visitor think? What stands out, and what do the food displays say about us as a culture? You might be surprised by what you realize.

3 . The Most Beautiful Train Stations in the World
Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building
The wide-open entrance square on the Marunouchi side of Tokyo’s main train station would look more at home in Amsterdam or Paris. Kingo Tatsuno’s classical European design took over six years to complete, finally opening in 1914. The statin has received several facelifts since the Second World War, most recently in 2012. It’s one of the biggest and busiest train stations in the world.
Beijing West Railway Station
The idea of building this station in the capital of China was put forward as early as 1959 but didn’t come to reality until 1996. It was the largest station in Asia at the time, although Shanghai’s Hongqiao Station has since surpassed it. The station itself has a unique architectural (建筑的) style, with the main body of the building having quite a functional Russian look, but the rooftop is decorated with three amazing Chinese pagodas.
Duoliang Station, Taiwan
This is the smallest station on this lit by a distance. In fact we’re not really choosing Duoliang for architectural reasons. This station is all about location, location, location. Surrounded by hi top greenery on one side and amazing Pacific Ocean scenery on the other, it’s one of the most scenic spots in all of Taiwan. This isn’t even a working station anymore, but the platforms have been adapted into viewing spots, extremely popular with local train spotters.
Stazione Milano Centrale in Milan
Milan’s central train station looks pretty much exactly as you’d imagine it. There are a mix of styles at play here, from Art Nouveau to Art Deco, but the entire building is filled with a classic sense of Roman monumentality. The outer look is guarded by two statues, while its insides are equally impressive, as grand stonewalls curve (弯曲) into the station’s glass ceilings.

6 . Phillip Island is a small island and nature reserve off the coast of south Australia, about 140 km from Melbourne. On the island you can see koalas, kangaroos and the main attraction, the penguin (企 鹅 ) parade on Summerland Beach.
As dusk was coming nearer, we made our way down to the beach,as did everyone else. As it got darker, people talked less, keeping an eye out on the beach to see the arrival of that first penguin.
Suddenly there was movement at the edge of the surf and all heads turned as one. There, standing by the edge of the water was the smallest penguin we had ever seen. He looked left, then right ,as if he was considering crossing a busy road and then he ran quickly across to the sand dunes (沙丘) and the penguin burrows (地洞).
He must have been the scout (侦查员),because after him, there came groups of penguins, some consisted of two or three penguins, some had about ten or fifteen, but they all made that same mad dash across the sand into the burrows. Finally no more penguins emerged from the sea.
You could see the penguins here every evening and morning, but they weren’t in cages or in small pools. The sea was their playground and it is a sight we would definitely recommend to anyone.
You weren’t allowed to take flash photographs as it scared them. After the penguins had gone to their burrows, you could walk along boardwalks and see them there. That’s got to be worth a look.

9 . The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is the first large-scale sea crossing transportation project under China’s “One Country, Two Systems” policy. Jointly constructed by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, the bridge is a mega sea crossing system linking Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macao.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is the longest, most difficult to construct, and the highest- standard cross-sea transportation project in China’s history. It is regarded as the “Qomolangma” of the bridge industry. The bridge is also part of the C4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and G94 Pearl River Delta Ring Expressway within China’s national expressway network.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge starts at Lantau Island in Hong Kong, passes through Tai O, crosses the Pearl River Estuary(河口), and its Y-shaped section at the end connects Zhuhai and Macao. The total length of the bridge is 55 km. Its sea section is around 35.578 km long while its underwater tunnel stretches 6.75 km. The construction cost of the bridge exceeded 100 billion yuan. It was jointly funded by the central government and the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, which will collect tolls on the bridge for 50 years.
There were many updated technologies in the construction and installation of the Hong Kong - Zhuhai - Macao Bridge. The project also made multiple breakthroughs in infrastructure(基础设施)construction in which the government cooperated with domestic and foreign companies. These experiences will be useful for the Chinese government in the construction of future large - scale engineering projects.

The bridge will increase the attractiveness and influence of Zhuhai, promote the cooperation of Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macao in logistics, tourism, and other industries, and drive the economic and social integration of Hong Kong, Macao, and Zhuhai.
