After cycling 2,000 kilometers in 18 days, Lan Huiyun and his 13 students finally reached their destination — Qinghai Lake in Qinghai province on August 17.

Lan, 35,     1     geography teacher from Shanxi province, started out with his students on July 30, several days after they     2     (admit) into different universities. They set off from their campus and passed through the province Shanxi, Shaanxi, the Inner Mongolia and Gansu before arriving in Qinghai.

In early May, Lan began to plan a bicycle route     3     would allow the students to receive firsthand experience about local plants, climate and customs. He also provided training,     4     (include) bicycle operation, repairing skills and some basic first aid, to ensure their     5     (safe) and reduce the possibility of accidents. However, they encountered difficulties, such as flat tires and lack     6     oxygen, while cycling in high altitude regions.     7     (fortunate), all of them persisted and finally reached the destination.

It was not the first time that Lan     8     (organize) such journeys to commemorate (纪念) the end of high school.
