Next week I’m travelling to Australia to visit a friend there. I have also read about some iconic     1    (site), I can’t wait     2    (see) all of them. On Oct. 1^st, I’m there in Sydney. Since I arrived, my friend     3    (bring) me to my first open-air barbecue and has also shared many different but yummy meals     4     me, so my first impressions of Australia have been all about food. On Oct. 3^rd, my friend and I have arrived in Katherine. We’re here to learn about the life and customs of the Aborigines.     5    (survive) in this vast land on the ocean, the Aborigines had to be in close contact with nature. This shows in their music,     6     celebrates the natural world and the spiritual world around them. Most of their     7    (music) instruments are really just sticks found on the ground, among which there is     8     amazing instrument called the didgeridoo. On Oct. 6^th, it’s almost time for me to say goodbye to Australia. After being here for a while, my biggest     9    (impress) is the complicated mix of peoples and cultures.     10    (person) speaking, what I like most about Australia is the people themselves. After experiencing Australia, I have to say that I agree with the tourism slogan: There’s nothing like Australia.

Since ancient times, people have enjoyed themselves at the theatre. Here are two historical theatres, one in the East and one in the West.

The Deheyuan Grand Theatre, located in the Summer Palace in Beiing, was built in the Qing Dynasty. It is regarded as the place     1     Peking Opera developed into its current form. The theatre has three floors — the Fu stage, the Lu stage and the Shou stage, symbolizing     2     (happy), prosperity and longevity. The stages have special doors for actors     3     (jump) out of the floor, and equipment to help them fly through the air. A well and five ponds under the Shou stage     4     (use) in water scenes and also to increase sound effects. Today, visitors     5     the Deheyuan theatre are still amazed by its structure     6     beautiful paintings.

The first Globe Theatre was created by a group of actors, one of whom was William Shakespeare. It opened in London in 1599 and became     7     huge success until it burnt down in a fire in 1613.     8     (stand) by the River Thames, the Globe Theatre we see today has three main elements: a blue roof painted with stars, the stage itself and a     9     (hide) door in the floor.

If you are a fan of William Shakespeare, you must come to the Globe to see a play. As Shakespeare     10     (he) said, “All the world’s a stage.”

There is a saying that you have not been to China if you have not visited the Terracotta Warriors (bing ma yong). Located to the west of Xi'an, bing ma yong is a collection of the tomb treasures of Qin Shihuang, the First Emperor of China. They were built by hundreds of thousands of men more than 2,000 years ago. Bing ma yong were a copy of Qin Shihuang's     1     (power) army which conquered and unified the Six States. Each warrior was as big and vivid as a real soldier. Life-sized war chariots and horses were also made. They were buried in the tomb of China’s first Emperor,     2     died more than 2,000 years ago. This army of clay statues is believed    3     (be) as effective and strong as any real-life army and can protect the Emperor and his tomb.

    4    , no one in modern times knew about the tomb or the terracotta statues until 1974, when some farmers discovered the tomb while     5     (dig) a well nearby. After years of excavation, three underground vaults(坑)     6     (official) opened to tourists in 1979,1989 and 1994 respectively, showing thousands of terracotta warriors, horses and chariots. Since then, the Terracotta Warrior Museum in Xi’an     7     (become) a tourist destination for millions of people from home and abroad. The terracotta warriors have also been put     8    show overseas, showing the fantastic Chinese civilization to the world and promote cultural exchanges.

If you feel an urge to visit the bing ma yong, the Terracotta Army Museum in Xi'an is a must-see, which is considered one of the greatest archaeological(考古的)     9     (site) in the world and one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century. It will remind you of the glorious times of    10    Qin Dynasty.
