3 . Travelling with friends can be an amazing experience where you could make lifelong memories or it could ruin your friendship.     1     Here are some rules you should follow to make sure your next trip with friends goes as smoothly as possible.

2     Sure, you and your friends probably have some similar interests, but that’s not always the case. In an effort to keep everyone happy, go over travel plans and expectations ahead of time. Have each person categorize activities or sights into “must-see”, “want to see” and “would go if we have time”. Plan accordingly and make sure everyone can see some of their top attractions.

Communicate and respect each other. Everyone has personal preferences when travelling— from getting the bed closest to the bathroom or sitting in the airplane’s window seat. But sometimes things don’t go as you like. In this case, share your requirements directly with your travel companions.     3     Have a conversation when problems arise, for communication is the key.

Don’t disappear. When travelling with a group — or even just one other person — you may want some alone time. That’s completely fine, but make sure your friends know where you are and have a way of contacting you.     4

Get off your phone. Of course, your friends will understand if you need to take a call from a family member, or in the event of a work emergency, but other than that, try to stay off your phone.     5     After all, the appeal of this type of trip is to spend time with friends. Just enjoy it!

A.Give each other some space.
B.Include at least one activity for everyone.
C.So it’s important to make sure you and your friend(s) are on the same page.
D.At the same time, listen to their concerns and be respectful of them.
E.Don’t respond to less important work contact or send messages frequently.
F.It’s especially true of travelling in foreign countries or unfamiliar places.
G.And remember that consideration and respect go a long way.

8 . Antarctica

Going to Antarctica, one of the remotest destinations on the planet, is not an easy (or affordable) endeavor. Perhaps the difficulty is part of the attraction—the seventh continent remains at the top of many travelers’ wish lists. Hawaii

Hawaii is underrated. To be sure, it is a gorgeous place with breathtaking sunrise and sunset, and every beach is seemingly prettier than the next, but its beauty goes much deeper than its preternatural appearance. 文章大意:本文是一篇应用文。文章介绍的是几处周末度假去处。介绍这些地方的好处,吸引人的地方。

9 . Still seeking a destination for your weekend break? There are some places which are probably a mere wall away from your college.

King’s Art Centre

A day at the Centre could mean a visit to an exhibition of the work of one of the most interesting contemporary artists on show anywhere. This weekend sees the opening of an exhibition of four local artists.

You could attend a class teaching you how to learn from the masters or get more creative with paint – free of charge.

The Centre also runs two life drawing classes for which there is a small fee.

The Botanic Garden

The Garden has over 8,000 plant species; it holds the research and teaching collection of living plants for Cambridge University.

The multi-branched Torch Aloe here is impressive. The African plant produces red flowers above blue-green leaves, and is not one to miss.

Get to the display house to see Dionaea muscipula, a plant more commonly known as the Venus Flytrap that feeds on insects and other small animals.

The Garden is also a place for wildlife-enthusiasts. Look for grass snakes in the lake. A snake called Hissing Sid is regularly seen lying in the heat of the warm sun.

Byron’s Pool

Many stories surround Lord Byron’s time as a student of Cambridge University. Arriving in 1805, he wrote a letter complaining that it was a place of “mess and drunkenness”. However, it seems as though Byron did manage to pass the time pleasantly enough. I’m not just talking about the pet bear he kept in his rooms. He spent a great deal of time walking in the village.

It is also said that on occasion Byron swam naked by moonlight in the lake, which is now known as Byron’s Pool. A couple of miles past Grantchester in the south Cambridgeshire countryside, the pool is surrounded by the fields. The cries of invisible birds make the trip a lovely experience and on the way home you can drop into the village for afternoon tea. If you don’t trust me, then perhaps you’ll take it from Virginia Woolf ,a famous writer,—over a century after Byron, she reportedly took a trip to swim in the same pool.

10 . It’s annoying to meet someone who likes to boast about how many places he has been to. But it’s true that to some people, traveling is all about the number of places one has been to.     1     Thoughtful tourists can get even more out of their traveling experience.

Transformative travel

Transformative travel is much like “experiential travel”. But takes it a step further.     2     You go to a place that has a very different background, you learn wisdom from the new culture and the people you meet, and finally you return home and apply the knowledge to your own life and the lives of those around you. This last phase is what separates transformative travel from experiential travel.

    3

According to Lonely Planet, eco-friendly and sustainable travel will be one of the top trends. One way to plan a green trip is to travel a shorter distance, which can reduce your carbon footprint.     4     Another way to involve sustainability in your travel plans is to choose a destination that will benefit from your trip. For example, places like Nepal will enjoy a boost to its local economy from the money it will make through tourism.

Disappearing destinations

Destinations at risk of disappearing are also welcoming an increasing number of tourists. The Arctic and Antarctic have both become popular destinations since they are under threat of climate change. Another top destination is the Great Barrier Reef. Due to pollution and global warming, it’s believed that it will be seriously damaged in just a few decades.     5

A.Going green
B.A short-distance trip
C.It usually goes through three phases.
D.They both have an influence on climate.
E.So consider planning an adventure closer to home.
F.But the old “been there, seen that” mode is changing.
G.Travelers are longing to see them before they’re gone.
