2 . Avebury is near the far more famous Stonehenge. What is interesting about it is that a village has grown up around the stones, unlike Stonehenge, which stands alone. Avebury and Stonehenge are just two of about 1,300 stone circles all over the UK. Many of them are in fantastic locations, like Castlering in Cumbria, from which you can see England’s highest mountain; and the Ring of Brodgar in the beautiful Orkney Island, off Scotland’s northern coast.
Some of them are UNESCO World Heritage sites, and several have local stories connected to them. For example, the Merry Maidens in West Cornwall is a group of nineteen stones. According to the story, they were young women — maidens — who were turned into stone for dancing on a Sunday.
Early historians thought that the stone circles were temples for the people who arrived in the UK in about 500 BC. Later research has shown that they are far older than that, at least 4,000 years old. Stonehenge could have been built 5,000 years ago, but it’s still nowhere near as old as the nearby wooden circle built about 10,000 years ago. Some experts believe they acted like calendars and have shown that some stones line up with sunrise or sunset on the longest and shortest days of the year. Others believe they were places for the dead bodies of the local rich and powerful.
We may never know why they were built, but each one leaves the visitor with a strong sense of the shortness of our existence in the sea of history. There are groups of stone circles and other prehistoric (史前的) monuments throughout the British Isles, so wherever you are staying you should include at least one in your tour.

Last summer, I went on the trip to Qingdao, where I stayed for seven days and enjoyed myself. Before leave Qingdao, I went fishing on a beautiful lake. Unlucky, I didn't catch any fishes, and I got boring. I decided to go swimming. When I stood up, my wallet with all my money in fell into the water. I jump into the deep lake to look for it, so I found nothing. The next morning, I wasn't able to leave the hotel because of I had no money to pay for anything. I had no choice but call my parents and asked for help. They sent myself some money by WeChat. How an embarrassing trip!

Beside, the exceptional Peking Opera performances here are also what you can't miss.
I wish you a very happy or meaningful time in China!
Yours sincerely,

6 . Shuikou village, in East China's Zhejiang province, is home to 10,000 residents, and about 30 percent of them are engaged in the homestay business. The village has developed into one of the major rural tourism destinations in the Yangtze River Delta(三角洲)region over the years.
As cross-provincial tourism has resumed nationwide, locals in Shuikou are back in business and looking forward to a full recovery of the local tourism industry.
Homestay owner Zheng Yunfang has been busy answering customers' calls, taking down their information, while checking the booking status of her hostelry(旅馆)since early August. "Our 18 guest rooms were fully booked over the past few weeks, and we've received bookings up to November," says Zheng, who runs Ziming Mountain Villa(别墅)in Shuikou. Most of her guests have been to her place before, and they often bring in new guests during their visits. "By the look of things, business shouldn't be a problem in the second half of the year."
Just walking distance away from Zheng's villa, another local homestay owner, Song Chaofeng, has begun receiving visitors as well. He is starting to harvest the reward of an earlier promotion of his homestay on the short-video app Douyin, also known as TikTok.
As an experiment, Song made a video featuring local food and landscapes earlier this year and uploaded it online after a bit of simple editing. "It was a total surprise that several thousand people watched it the next day."
Tourist Qi Jia, from Shanghai, recently visited Song's place with her family after flipping(翻转)through Song's Douyin account. "My child loves playing table tennis here, and my parents love the distinctive rural-style breakfast; with fresh and nutritious food that is picked right from the field. It feels right to come here.
At the moment, Song says he will focus on maintaining the quality of his homestay operations and updating his fans online on the latest developments. "Hopefully, they can all come. here and experience what we have to offer."

8 . Shakespeare once wrote that all the world is a stage, but these days it’s more like a movie set. Get to know some films to find fantastic film locations(地点)you should check out on your travels.
The Sound o f Music
Austria’s hills are certainly alive with the sound of music and tourists. Mozart may have been born in Salzburg, but The Sound of Music really put it on the map and now about 70 percent of people visit it because of the movie. Cross Residenzplatz Square and visit the Palace of Leopoldskron where the children in the film fell into the lake.
Troy
Although the Palace of Troy was filmed on sets built at Shepperton Studios in the UK, most of the 2004 movie was shot in Malta and Baja California, Mexico, Malta with historic sites arid beautiful blue waters was a good choice to replace Greece. Troy was shot at a host of locations, including Golden Bay, Hal Far as well as Fort Ricasoli (where the city of Troy was constructed). The Trojan horse from the film is now lying on the waterfront in Canakkale, Turkey.
Bridget Jones's Diary
Bridget Jones is brought to life as we watch the work and romance in London. Her special corner flat is above the Globe Tavern by Borough Market, one of the city’s oldest and biggest food markets. According to The Telegraph, it would be highly unlikely that she could afford to buy a place like that today since it has risen in value by more than 240 percent.
Harry Potter
J. K. Rowling started writing the Harry Potter books while she was living in Edinburgh, Scotland, so it’s no surprise that she set most of the story there. The Hogwarts Express travels through the Scottish Highlands and along the 31 meters high Glenfinnan Viaduct. The second highest waterfall in the UK, Steal Falls can be seen during Quidditch matches.

San Juan, Puerto Rico
Head to the hot city nightlife of San Juan. Top chefs, stylish hotels, bars, clubs and shops are all just steps away from the tropical beaches. And since Puerto Rico is a United States Commonwealth, it's one of the easiest islands in the Caribbean to visit since you won't need a passport, have to change money, or even worry about your cellphone working. What's better than diving into the salty sea? Going into the clear and salt-free waters of the naturally occurring limestone cenotes (石灰岩沼穴) of the Riviera Maya and Yucatan Peninsula. Spend a sunny day exploring these natural cave pools filled with cool water that springs from the ground below and the thick palm forests that surround them. Then head back to the perfectly located Fairmont Mayakoba for comfortable rooms and modern Mexican cuisine.
New Orleans, Louisiana
New Orleans' lively nightlife and live-music scenes make ''the Big Easy'' a great girls' getaway. And even if your crew isn't one to seek out the boozy Bourbon Street crawl, there's plenty of amazing food in the French Quarter, plenty of shopping and strolling in the Garden District.

I try my best put myself in the local culture. The following two ways always make this easier to do this: either you stay there longer or you visit it more frequent. Once you don't regard yourself to a tourist, you will start seeing things in the different way and start experiencing things like a local person. One of my longest trip was recently in Xi'an, when I stayed for a month. As days went by, life moves forward from take long walks to tasting delicious local foods. I'd never been enjoyed these before that trip, so I have decided to go for a much longer stay next time I travel.
