1 . Writing while traveling can be either professional or personal. Some people travel and write as part of their jobs, while others simply want to make the most out of their travel experience.
Journal every night before you go to bed. If you are writing to keep a diary of your destinations, writing things down in a journal every night is a good way to keep track of each individual day.
Avoid spending too much time writing. Set a watch or a timer on your phone and do as much work as you can inside 1 to 3 hours. After that, take a break and enjoy your destination. This is especially important if your writing is task- based rather than time- based. Make sure you’ re writing as efficiently as possible.

While most parks tend to draw families in the summer and fall, there are also ideal spots for adventurous winter trips.
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
The country’s oldest and best-known national park takes on an almost otherworldly atmosphere in winter: the air filled with rolling steam, the strong colors of hot springs, the surrounding white landscapes, let alone the impressive wildlife during this time, like bison, wolves, and playful red foxes. Just book a guided hiking tour to get a ranger’s perspective on the park and local people.
Joshua Tree National Park, California
With its giant red rocks and unique trees, you’ll feel like stepping onto a foreign planet as you spend hours hiking the Panorama Loop or Maze Loop. The park is recognized as an International Dark Sky Park, featuring virtually zero light pollution and the country’s best views of a starry sky.
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
A significantly lower number of visitors in winter means you can take in unblocked views of the South Rim, and get to see the rare beauty of the Grand Canyon dusted with snow. For those adventurous and daring, it is recommended to hike the Bright Angel Trail and take the chance to see the canyon’s wintertime wildlife, including mule deer, elk, and bald eagles.
Virgin Islands National Park, St. John
Surprise! Not all wintertime national park trips need to involve snow. Virgin Islands National Park is most famous for its white-sand beaches. 4 . Constantin de Slizewicz has been anxious to come back to China since early 2020.For the past decade, the Frenchman has been running a luxurious (豪华的)camping business in Shangri-La in the southwest of China's Yunnan Province. But in December 2019, he went back to France for a vacation. He usually goes back to France and stays there for two to three months, since there is little business due to the weather.
Following the outbreak of COVID-19, however, he found it difficult to return. Fortunately, his business partner Guillaume de Penfentenyo was able to get a flight to China at the end of February.
Previously, most of his customers were international guests from outside the country who were drawn to the beautiful landscape and scenery in Shangri-La. Despite the pandemic(疫情)and even in his absence, Slizewicz's company managed to attract new tourists, who were unable to travel abroad under the circumstances and discovered the joy of camping. "It makes sure of our operation," he says happily.
Last year, his team offered summer camps in Shangri-La for Chinese students who couldn't travel abroad. In autumn, many domestic travelers also signed up for his company's organized adventures deep into the wilderness.
Slizewicz first visited China in 1996 when he engaged in a three-month internship(实习期). He was impressed by the Chinese people around him and was attracted by places like Guizhou and Yunnan provinces, which were well-matched to his interest in camping-a passion he has had since childhood. 5 . Would you like to know something that our ancestors knew? Here is a chance to take a trip back in time to the following places and discover it.
Great Orme Copper Mines, Wales
The discovery of the copper mines changed much of what we knew about our Bronze Age ancestors. It was believed that metalworking had come to England with the Romans, but this Welsh discovery proved that the British were already working metals 4,000 years ago. The mines are made up of five miles of passageways. Some are so small that historians think they were dug by children as young as five years old.
Jurassic Coast, Dorset
Spreading an impressive 95 miles between Exmouth and Dorset, the Jurassic coast is frequently described as a “walk through time”. It’s perfect for looking for fossils after a storm. Several beach towns along the way make for a much-needed short break. The clean water is perfect for swimming and the Clock Tower Café which is typical of the countryside has beautiful views and delicious cakes.
Cheddar Gorge, Somerset
There’s something other-worldly about this limestone gorge, where caves carved out by an underground river were once used by our ancient ancestors for maturing cheese and other foods. Visitors to the Gorge can also explore a cave where Britain's oldest human skeleton, the 9,000-year-old Cheddar Man, was first discovered back in 1903.
Compton Bay, Isle of Wight

7 . Some building work threatens Turkish cultural relics. Other kinds of building work save them. A hotel in Antakya shows how economic development and archaeology can coexist.
It was 2009 and Antakya, a city in southern Turkey, was developing fast. Necmi Asfuroglu, a local businessman, decided to build a hotel on the land that he had owned since the 1990s. The place was only a few hundred metres from the Grotto of St Peter, one of the world’s oldest churches.
Before building work started, a team of archaeologists was called in to examine the site. They discovered a broken vase here, a statue there, and almost everywhere colourful mosaic pieces. By the time they had finished, they had unearthed parts of what had once been the heart of Antioch, one of the biggest cities of the Roman empire.
With these discoveries, Mr. Asfuroglu’s plans went up in smoke. “We had to rethink everything,” he said. Rather than walk away from the project, he asked an Istanbul architect, Emre Arolat, to make a design that would put together a modern hotel and an archaeological museum. The building work began in 2010, but stopped again for almost two years after workers came across other cultural relics. In 2020, the museum hotel finally opened its door for business.
For Mr. Arolat, the challenge was to find an architectural language that joined the past glory of an archaeological site and the modern charm of a business hotel. For inspiration, he looked to a museum showcasing the medieval ruins of a Norwegian town. The result is a building that gives a good example of how preservation and business can profitably coexist.
From the outside, the “museum hotel” that Mr. Arolat designed looks like a steel and glass Jenga tower lying on its side and piled up with long rectangular blocks the size of shipping containers, each housing a hotel room. The interior is a huge open space crisscrossed by bridges and walkways that overlook the mosaics and ruins below. The whole building rests on over 60 columns. One entrance serves the hotel, the other the publicly accessible museum.
