1 . Crossing the pedestrian bridge that connects our school to its surrounding neighborhood reminds us that there's more to Rochester than just our school.     1     By staying on campus all the time, we limit ourselves to just feeling like students and not people. Here's a list of things we can do around Rochester whenever we see it again.

2     It's a big, wide open produce market that happens every Saturday on Union Street. They sell flowers, vegetables, fruits, and clothing, and there are a few restaurants and coffee shops along the alleyway. Often, they have live music, and once I watched a friend play their saxophone there in front of the grape stand.

Study somewhere else besides school. Go to a coffee shop, or one of the public libraries. I like the music library at Eastman, and the coffee shop across the street, Java's. Rochester is full of cafes and spots to sit and study.     3

Go to a concert, if you're into that. The Little Theater has free live music every single night, and there's a variety of other bars and music halls that bring in local artists. Most venues offer shows for less than $10.     4     That's my favorite. Those guys are crazy, and watching them play their instruments is like being transported into a strange, shimmering world of classical music.

Go for more walks. When you're stuck, listen to music and roam around our campus. Sit under a tree and look at all the people walking by. Or take one of the shuttles that stop in front of the library to a new neighborhood, like the South Wedge, and float in and out of the small businesses along the street. Or, if you know somebody with a car, go to Letchworth and see the waterfalls.     5

A.Go to the Live Music.
B.Go to the Public Market.
C.But how often do we cross that bridge?
D.No matter what it is, going outside always helps.
E.If you can focus outside of our own library, do it.
F.Additionally, all student concerts at Eastman are free for students at our school.
G.It's no secret that our college campus, like the majority of campuses, is a bubble.

2 . The Grand circle—All Year Long

In the Grand Circle, there is no reason to pick one season or one vacation over another—you can do it all.   Combine skiing outside Denver or Salt Lake city with hiking in Moab or golfing in Sedona. If the South Rim is chilly in winter, hike into the Grand for a springtime paradise. If canyons (峡谷) seem too warm in summer, drive up into the mountains for cool green escapes.

Driving Tips

Gas up. You can travel a hundred miles between fuel stops. Make sure all of your vehicles with liquid are full, too.

Watch for animals. Free-range livestock grazing (放牧) is commonplace out here—and if the cows and sheep don’t wander into the road, the deer might.

Road signs. If a road sign shows a warning like “Steep Curves Ahead,” or “Chains or Snow Tires Required,” or advises you not to continue without four wheel drive, believe it.Cary water and—in winter—extra clothes and a small shovel.

Cultural etiquette

Indian reservations are independent nations. Traffic violations and accidents may bring you up before tribal, not state.Alcohol is not permitted on most reservations; carrying it―whether in open or closed containers—is illegal. Consider, at all times, that you are a guest of a different culture, a different nation. Do not photograph people unless permission is requested and gran led. Never interrupt ceremonies or rituals. Do not assume all people speak English. If you are buying crafts from a roadside stand, ask if the price is negotiable; sometimes it is, often it isn’t.

Be weather wise

When rain or thunder storms are possible, be cautious. When camping or hiking in narrow canyons and washes.

Save with park passes

There are over thirty national parks and monuments, national recreation areas, and national historic parks within the Grand Circle, as well as national forests, state parks and tribal parks. Most sites charge an entrance fee, but National Park Service and state multiparty passes are available.

1. What could we learn from driving tips?
A.Take less attention about road signs.B.Be careful with livestock.
C.Drive thousands of miles with gas.D.Do not trust the warnings.
2. What is required at cultural etiquette?
A.Permitting an alcohol.B.Speaking to Indians in English.
C.Taking photos with Indians only granted.D.Frequently negotiating the price with stand owners.
3. What should you have as you go to diverse parks?
A.Park passes.B.Weather awareness.C.Driving tips.D.Cultural etiquette.

Thanks to     4     (it) special mix of cultural and historical elements, Kulangsu makes you feel enriched, and makes you want     5     (know) more about its history. Thanks to the     7     (unique), the island receives some 10 million tourists every year. Subsequently (随后), its preservation becomes     8     big challenge to the local government. In order to better manage visitor traffic on and off the island, there is an international ferry terminal that specifically     9     (cater) to sightseers. People living on the island and holders of a Xiamen Social Insurance Card can use the smaller, faster ferry located next     10     yet another top tourist spot in Xiamen, Zhongshan Pedestrian Road.

4 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

One of my most memorable trips took place during the summer vacation about three years ago, when my sister, my aunt and I took a trip to Spain because we were moving. On the day of the trip, I lay in bed thinking about my friends whom I was going to leave behind and thoughts were flooding in.

When we arrived at the hire station, we seemed to have some problems with our luggage because it was too much for a taxi, so we had to book a van (厢式送货车) to take our luggage to the airport. We waited for a long period to find a perfect van that would fit our luggage.

Before leaving, I felt very bad because I was going to a different country and was going to miss all my friends and family. I was not comfortable and cried.

The journey was almost perfect at the beginning, but soon it began to rain. Because of the rain, the drivers could not see far away, which caused a huge traffic jam. I was sitting by the window with a can of Coke that I had bought in the store earlier. My aunt and sister fell asleep, and during this time. I felt bored and thought about other things that bothered me. My eyes turned to the mountain in front of us.

A bus suddenly appeared in the picture. It was very close to us. Cars sped past us without any speed limit. Beside me was a very deep lake: I wondered to myself what if something or someone fell inside it. Suddenly, a bus in front of our van stopped, and because it was raining heavily and the van was going fast, no one could see what was going to happen. Then, bang, we bumped into each other. Our van overturned, but luckily, it didn’t fall into the lake. People came to help us get out of the van because we were blocked and the driver was half-dead.

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好。

We struggled to get out of the van and everything we had was gone.
