More sections of Forbidden City’s wall opened to public

The palace Museum in the Forbidden City has opened the southern, eastern and northern sections of the wall, most of     1     was previously closed to the public. Visitors can walk on the wall and overlook three-quarters     2     the palace.

    3    (build) in the 1400s, the Forbidden City’s wall is the largest and the     4    (well) preserved royal palace wall in China, with a length of 3,437. 6 meters. It is 9. 3 meters high and 8. 55 meters wide at the base.

According to Shan Jixiang, curator(馆长) of the Palace Museum, the move was mainly to avoid overcrowding and offer visitors more     5    (choose) to see the cultural relics. In recent years, the Palace Museum has taken many measures to control     6     number of visitors, while     7    (open) more areas to the public.

In 2015     8    (cerebrate) its 90^th anniversary, the museum     9    (make) 65 percent of the complex(建筑群), including a small section of the wall,     10     (access) to the public. At 7p. m Wednesday, tickets to the museum are sold out through Friday.

3 . Located in the southern part of the Yangtze River Delta (三角洲) in Wuxi, Taihu Lake is the third largest freshwater lake in China. With a surface area of about 2, 338 square kilometers, it is a famous scenic spot in China.

    1     It crosses Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, where you can see great natural beauty along the lake. The best place to view the beautiful lake is on the Turtle Head Islet, a small island stretching into the water, whose shape is really like the head of a turtle sticking out from the water. Flowers and trees can be seen everywhere.     3     All efforts make the park graceful and elegant.

Besides the natural scenery of Taihu Lake, there are many ruins of historic sites. You can see the Grand Canal of the Sui Dynasty (581 —619), the islets in the lake along with the coastal places in the east.     4    

Taihu Lake has an abundant source of fish. Traveling there, you can taste the famous delicious food known as “Taihu Lake Three Whites”.     5     The feast is generally prepared in the boat as one floats on the peaceful waters of Taihu Lake. It is very well worth a visit.
