Yesterday morning, I participated on a school activity who theme focused on “Green Travel Starts From Me”. About 100 students and teachers gather at the school gate at 8:00 and we set out ten minute later to cycle around the city. It took us over two hours finish the 20-kilometer ride. Tiring as we were, we felt proud of us.
It was the first time that I had been covered such a long distance by bike. I believe an activity is of great value as it reminds us that everyone can make a difference to the protect of Earth by traveling in a green way.

During the summer break, I became a community volunteer to protecting the environment for one week. On the first day, I got up very earlier to kick off my seven day volunteer trip. As soon as I put on my volunteer clothes, I got straightly to work. While I was walking to the entrance of a residential area, I saw a man throw a cup on the ground. I immediately went to talk to her and said, ”Hi, sir. I’m volunteer. Can you throw it into the bin?" To my surprise, he just looked at me, turn around and left, leaving me feeling very embarrassed.
Later on, I had to guide people on how to classify their garbage and put it on the different categories of dustbins. There were some residents which did not have such a strong awareness of garbage classification. Besides, I also handed out leaflets on environmental protection to passer-by. That week’s experience was something I would consider it a highlight in my life, as I have helped to serve society as a whole.

Winter is my favourite seasons. It is very cold and everyone had to wear thick warm clothes, but I always enjoy the winter here in Harbin.

My friends and I love playing outside in winter. It is excited to have big snowball fights for us. They also make snowmen and use carrots for their noses, what look funny.
Harbin’s winter is such great that it attracts tourists from all over the country.

World Environment Day falls on June 5 every year. It expressed our pursuit for a better environment. It is also one of the ways that for the United Nations to raise global environmental awareness and take measure.
As young students, we should advocate environmental protection but start from the things around us. They include maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, caring for every plant and tree in the school, and participate in various public welfare activities that cares for nature.

Last Thursday, we have had a class meeting to discuss where to go for our autumn trip. We came up with several choices such as going boating, climbing a mountain, and going to park. Finally, we decided to go mountain climbing. The next day, we left to the mountain early in the morning. While climbing the mountain, we enjoyed the warm sunshine and the beautiful sceneries. However, when we reached the top, we were shocking to see rubbish here and there, such as bottles and banana peels. We felt sadly that many tourists didn’t take good care of nature. Soon, they started to pick them up. With all the rubbish putting in the rubbish bin, the place looked many more beautiful than before. When we came back, it was 5:30 in the afternoon. We were tired and happy.

I’d love to share with you my personally opinions on city life and life in small towns. I grow up in a small town and then moved to a big city at 18, so I have experienced the good and bad side of both. I never thought that I would enjoy live in a big city, but I was wrong. After ten years of living on one, I can’t imagine ever living in a small town again. Surely small towns and big cities all have some problems in terms of transport. In a small town, you have to own a car make life comfortable. Big cities generally have heavy traffic and expensive parking, but there you have a choice of taking public transport, which is cheap than driving. I can always enjoy a lot of films, concerts, and another wonderful shows. However, these things are not rare in small towns.

Last Saturday, the Environmental Protection Club of our school hold a clean-up project in the People’s Park so as to raise the environmental aware of the public. A number of volunteer gathered at the school gate, but went to the park by bike. Some of them picked up the litter, and some were put the rubbish into the dustbins. Many visitors came to our help, showing considerable appreciation and support. That they did made the park much clean and more attractive. The project was great success and the club decided to organized such activities regularly.

After school, I was about to enter into my apartment then I saw a little dirty dog lying beside the dustbin. He looked extremely weak. Immediate the homeless dog filled me with mercy. So I decided to take him home. I gave him some food and bath. After the bath he looked energy and refreshed. What a lovely dog!
When my parents got home, I asked that I could keep the dog. To my surprised and joy, they agreed. Up to now, he has become a member of our family and everyone had enjoyed his company. Looked at the cute and happy dog today, I realize that I was right to help him. We offered him a shelter and he has brought ourselves great happiness and laughter.

My grandparents keep the lovely dog. It will run out to give me a warm welcome wherever I pay a visit to my grandparents. But last weekend I didn't see them when I arrived. I felt very strangely and asked Grandma about it. Learned that it was sick and that it hadn't eaten anything for two days, I hurried to examine it, but sure enough, I saw it lying in its house. I called its name and it only opened its eyes slowly and stared me without moving its body. I begged Grandpa to have it examine by the doctor. It turned out that it had been eaten poisonous food. After some treatment, it looked a lot good on the way home.

The other day, our class had made an interesting outing. Though we enjoyed the charming scenery and fresh air all the way, we were astonishing to see some bad behavior. Some people threw rubbish here and there, turn the public place into a large dustbin. Others carved word on famous buildings or picked flowers casually.
An eco-friendly journey not only allows us express our love for nature but need our responsibility. As we enjoy the beauty of nature, we can’t damage them. Only when we improve our aware of eco-friendly travel can the earth become more beautiful. After all, which matters most for us is the earth because it is the only place for us to live.
