Have you ever heard of the largest and most beautiful salt lake in China? If the answer is no, you can take     1     trip to Qinghai Lake and this is your answer.

Qinghai Lake is     2     (sure) the largest lake in China which stretches 105 km at length and 63 km at width and     3     (occupy) a surface area of over 4, 500 square kilometers. At 3, 200 meter above the sea level and owning an average     4     (deep) of 21 meter, its waters are profoundly cold and     5     (salt).

The lake     6     (become)a tourist destination popular for biking and bird watching in recent years. Major attractions around it are Bird Island     7     many species of birds come to nest or rest during their transcontinental migrations. The government has set up special department     8     (study) and protect these birds.

These lakes,     9     (combine) with characteristic islands, vast grasslands, snowy mountains and spectacular dessert in and around Qinghai Lake make up an attractive Qinghai Lake Scenic Area.     10     so much to admire, Qinghai Lake was evaluated as the Most Beautiful Lake in China by China’s National Geographic.

The average temperature of the Earth’s surface has increase by 0.85°C in the last hundred years. It’s too late to reverse the changes. Now we have to find ways     1     (adapt) to extreme weather, rising sea levels, and melting polar ice caps.

However, we can reduce greenhouse gas missions or make     2     (they) less harmful. An Argentinian company has started collecting cow emissions and changing them     3     usable energy. As the world eats more meal, methane(沼气)

emissions from animals are     4     (actual) becoming a bigger climate concern. And one day’s worth of cow emissions     5     (provide) energy to run a car for 24 hours.

And rich countries have the resources to adapt to     6     (globe) warming, while poorer countries don’t. Saleemul Hug director of the International Center for Climate Change and Development in Bangladesh, said that the rich countries had promised a hundred billion dollars a year,     7     (start) from 2020, to cover all kinds of climate change activities.

The Xi’an City Wall is the most complete city wall that has survived China’s long history. It     1     (build) originally to protect the city     2     the Tang dynasty and has now been completely restored (修复). It is possible       3     (walk) or bike the entire 14 kilometers.

We accessed the wall through the South Gate. The wall is 12 meters high and from here you can see streams of people moving inside and outside the City Wall.

After     4     (spend) some time looking at all the defensive equipment at the wall, we decided it was time for some action and what     5     (good) than to ride on a piece of history!

We     6     (hire) our bikes from the rental place at the South Gate. My bike was old and shaky     7     did the job. It took us about 3 hours to go all     8     way around the Xi’an City Wall. Supposedly you can do it in two hours, but we stopped at the different gates and     9     (watchtower) to take pictures or just to watch the local people going about their     10     (day) routines.
