Nicholas, intrigued by adventure stories,     1     (出发去滑雪) with his father. They had a wonderful day. When they were to leave, Nicholas decided to go down unusual trails himself. Unfortunately, a fierce snowstorm swept the area and Nicholas was lost. He remembered the story he ever read, in which a man was abandoned in a wild area and had to help himself out. “I would not shrink from danger. It’s time to     2     (我学到的技巧付诸实践了),” he whispered. He determined to     3     (逃命). Although in a subdued mood, he would not retreat.     4     (再三考虑之后), he     5     (全身心地建一个雪洞) to keep himself warm. The next day, he was found by his father, safe and sound.

Suddenly, the aftershock struck, which made the rescue work more difficult. “A nurse in the ward was covered with rubble,” a doctor screamed with horror then. I'm Li Lei，and it's my honor to give a speech about earthquake prevention.There happened earthquakes in many places recently.The earthquake could cause significant damage.So    1    (如何在地震期间保持安全)has become an important issue.Here are some guidelines.

Firstly，don't be nervous and keep calm.Try to get into     2    (一片远离树木的空地)，buildings，walls，signs，power lines and anything else that might fall on you if you are outdoors.Secondly，if you are indoors，stay there.Quickly move to a safe place in the room such as under a strong desk.    3    (用手和胳膊覆盖你的头和脖子)．The goal is to protect yourself from falling objects.Avoid taking cover near windows，large mirrors and hanging objects.Thirdly,    4    (绝对不要使用电梯)．

Though we can't stop earthquakes,    5    (我们能够减少地震给我们带来的破坏) if we take right measures.

Fishing is one of the most     1     (strike) drivers of declines (降低) in ocean wildlife populations. Catching fish is not naturally bad for the ocean and without doubt     2     (accept), except when boats catch fish faster than stocks (储备) can catch up, something called overfishing.

The damage done by overfishing goes     3     (超出……范围) the needless loss of billions of fish. The number of overfished stocks     4     (global) has increased a lot in half a century and today one-third of the world’s fisheries are being pushed over their biological limits, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. It is shown by a new study that more than one-third of all sharks and rays are now at risk of     5     (extinct) because of overfishing.

Overfishing is closely tied to bycatch — the catch of unwanted sea life while fishing for a specific species. This, too, is a serious marine (海洋的) threat that     6     (导致) the needless loss of billions of fish.

Billions of people rely on fish for protein, and fishing is the main livelihood for millions of people     7     (全世界).     8     (因此), governments and regional fisheries bodies must     9     (采取行动) now to stop overfishing and prevent a global crisis. To our relief, many people who make a living by catching and selling fish are working to promote how the world manages and protects ocean resources. WWF works with a lot of organisations to reform fishery management     10     (在全世界), focusing on sustainable (可持续的) practices that not only protect ecosystems, but also sustain livelihoods and ensure food security.
