5 . Derived from the words ‘glamorous’(迷人的) and ‘camping’, glamping is an outdoor escape that combines the closeness to nature associated with camping with the luxury and convenience of proper self-provided accommodation. Though associated with luxury, glamping varies greatly. Some locations may offer every item you could ever need, along with special features like hot tubs, saunas, and more, while other glamping options will be limited to far more fundamental accommodation.
Whatever the type of accommodation, glamping should have a genuine connection to the outdoors, and give guests the chance not only to enjoy comforts but also to run wild, climb trees, splash in rivers,star-gaze and have the sort of experiences that we associate with camping. Glamping has a massive appeal to almost every type of traveler. It gives you the chance to really immerse yourself in a location and step directly from your door into your surroundings.
During the October, 2020, online searches for “glamping” surged 400 percent year-on-year. Data from one popular lifestyle platform showed that glamping-related posts increased 271 percent year-on-year, while views of such posts surged 170 percent year-on-year. Between Jan.1 and May 31 this year, glamping searches were 428 percent higher than that in the same period of last year. With the popularity of glamping, “glamping gear” , “campsite recommendations” and “glamping photos” become hot topics on the website.
Lyu, working in one school of Tourism Sciences, said: “Currently, camping, especially new-type camping, which is luggage-free, is very popular among young consumers. The new-type, high-end glamping is expected to become an important, rising form of leisure activity in the suburbs.” Lyu said the popularity of glamping is partly because the pandemic has added to people’s preference for open spaces. Besides, young people, who are a major consumption group, are the main users of social media and content platforms.
