Tobias Baumgaertner has taken many amazing photos as a wildlife     1    (photograph). But very few photos reach a lot of people and touch their hearts like the two penguins that are displaying the     2     (beautiful) of love.

In 2019, Tobias spent three nights with     3     colony of fairy penguins in St Kilda Pier in Melbourne, Australia. During that time, he noticed a pair standing out from the group. One penguin had its wing gently resting over the other in     4     appeared to be a loving embrace (拥抱).

Tobias didn’t know that loss connected the two. “A volunteer told me that the white one was an elderly lady who     5    (lose) her partner, and so had the younger male to the left.” he explained. “They often meet, comforting each other and standing together     6     hours watching the dancing lights of the nearby city.”

Moved, Tobias set out     7     (record) their heartwarming moments. It took days, but he left with two perfect photos— and two examples of how love can heal. The Chinese Qingming Festival, also known as Tomb Sweeping Day, celebrates the beginning of spring and is the occasion     1    families show respect to their ancestors by visiting and cleaning their tombs. The festival takes place on the 15th day after the Spring Equinox (春分), which falls on April 4th    2     5th. As Qingming comes, temperature rises and rainfall increases,    3    (indicate)an important time for sowing seeds.

The Qingming Festival     4    (date) back more than 2,500 years and it originated from Hanshi Day, meaning “a day with cold food only”. One story has it that Jie Zitui, who was a loyal man to his lord Duke Wen, died in a fire in 636 BCE. So Duke Wen ordered three days without fire     5     memory of Jie. The next year, he ordered that the day after Hanshi Day should be the Qingming Festival, a day to honor     6     dead. While there is much sadness surrounding Tomb Sweeping Day, there is also     9    (celebrate) , happiness and a festive atmosphere. Nowadays, the Qingming Festival is a time of multiple     10    (activity) , such as tomb sweeping, spring outing, flying kites and eating festive food like Qingtuan.

A concert     1    (mark) the 50th anniversary (周年纪念日) of China-Brazil diplomatic relations took place at the Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on March 21.

    2     outdoor event attracted over 300 audience members and featured Chinese musicians, including the music band of traditional Chinese music of the Central Conservatory of Music, bringing Chinese music pieces that     3    (particular) showcase (展现) the variety of traditional Chinese musical instruments.

Ancient Chinese musical instruments     4     guzheng, xiao and banhu were also played during the concert. The Chinese musicians also used their instruments to play folk songs of Brazil,     5     received warm feedback from the local audience. The concert also featured musicians from Brazil playing Chinese songs and Brazilian folk songs.

The concert, co-initiated by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and co-organized by Chinese Musicians’ Association and Brazil China Friendship Association, invited     6    (experience) conductors as well as the winners and judges of the Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music—a top Chinese music award—     7     (join) in the performances.

This event was part of 2024 “China Today” Arts Week that was first launched in 2004 by China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
