Only relying on hands, the ancient Chinese art of shadow play (皮影戏) is a tradition dating back to the Han dynasty and it’s also a representative of the Intangible Cultural Heritage     1     (recognize) by UNESCO.

As     2     fifth generation inheritor of Wang’s Shadow, a family troupe based in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, Dang Feihua is trying to revive it. Not only does he skillfully combine the traditional     3     the contemporary in his creations, he also explores new methods     4     (boost) the presentation and preservation of this cultural heritage, especially ways of integrating the ancient art form into daily life.

Recent studies show that the amount of time people spend looking at screens is rising. China will support the entrepreneurship and innovation( 创业与创新) of college students     1    renewed efforts, according to     2     set of guidelines released by the General Office of the State Council.

Hailing college students as a vibrant force for entrepreneurship and innovation, the guidelines called for measures    3    (create) a more favorable environment for business startups and innovative projects    4     (launch) by college students.

Giant panda Ya Ya returned home to Beijing Zoo early on Monday after spending 20 years in the United States.

In 2003, Ya Ya and male giant panda Le Le, traveled to Memphis Zoo in the US state of Tennesse    1    part of a China-US giant panda protection and research program. In 2006, Ya Ya began to shed her fur, a condition that    2    (worse)in 2014. Experts at Memphis Zoo and in China tried various treatments, but were    3    (able)to solve the problem. Then Memphis Zoo announced that it would return the pandas. However, in February, Le Le passed away due to heart disease. On April 8, the zoo hosted a farewell party for Ya Ya, with hundreds of people    4    (attend)the event.

On April 27,giant panda Ya Ya arrived in Shanghai and was then quarantined（检疫） for a month    5    delivered to Beijing. During the quarantine period,    6    (experience) keepers and veterinarians provided round-the-clock care for Ya Ya due to her old age and changed living environment. A musical Laqini Bayika was staged in Beijing in memory of a 41-year-old border patroller who sacrificed his life trying to save a child.

The border patroller,     1     whom the show was named, from Tashikurgan Tajik autonomous county in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, sacrificed his life while     2    (attempt) to pull a child out of the water after they     3     (fall) through the ice and into the lake at Kashi Univeristy in 2021. The musical was first shown on April 26 and continued     4     (perform) for four days.

The production records the hero’s life from childhood,     5     he became determined to follow the steps of his father and grandfather to become a patrolman in the future, all     6     way to his final moments.

According to Wang Tiejun, the playwright of this musical, crew members visited     7     (relate), colleagues and village fellows of Laqini to know     8     (much) about him, and he was moved by the heroic sacrifice of the modest     9     reserved man who often remained under the radar. “I didn’t need to add anything. Instead, I just tried to show the true story of him as vividly as possible to the audience,” says Wang.

More than 20,000 individually packaged ready-to-cook fotiaoqiang, a traditional Chinese dish, have recently been boxed up in the coastal county of Lianjiang before departing for the United States and Canada. This is the first time that the signature meal of Juchunyuan     1    (export) to North America.

Fotiaoqiang     2    (date) back to the reign of Emperor Tongzhi (1862—1875) of the Qing Dynasty. The recipe was     3    (original) created at Juchunyuan restaurant inFuzhou, capital city of Fujian.
