I was a smartphone addict. The first thing     1     I did when I woke up in the morning was reach for my phone. The smartphone took up too much of my time, and I could have done something more     2     (meaning) than just looking at a tiny screen all day, but     3     was not easy to quit the habit.

One day, I looked down at my smartphone when     4     (cross) the road, and I was nearly knocked off my feet.
