文章大意:本文为一篇说明文。文章主要介绍了印度两种特别的动物:大象和牛。
1 . 阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容(1个单词)或括号内单词的正确形式。

In India, a lot of elephants aren’t wild. Instead, they are domesticated (驯养的). They aren’t kept as pets,     1     as working animals. Every working elephant has its own keeper. An elephant and its keeper meet for the first time when they are both young.     2     (develop) a strong and lasting relationship, the elephant and its keeper grow up together. In fact,     3     (they) relationship continues for the rest of the elephant’s life — perhaps 40 years. Lots of elephants work in the forest,     4     (move) heavy trees after they are cut down. Some give rides to tourists, or carry people during     5     (celebrate) and festivals. Keepers try to take good care of their elephants, feeding them well and giving them     6     bath at the end of the working day.

Another animal     7     is treated in a special way in India is the cow. Cows are     8     (protect) animals, so they aren’t kept on farms or killed     9     food, although people do use their milk. So in India you can often see cows walking around in a town or city, and nobody tries to control them. If they sit down in the middle of the road, people     10     (usual) try to keep away from them. Do you think it’s interesting?

A great rivalry (对抗) can make a hockey (曲棍球) game exciting. But it’s even better when both sides share the same goal. Students of Boston College (B.C.) and Boston University (B.U.) held a game for a good cause. Former members of the schools’ hockey teams faced off in the 4th Annual Commonwealth Avenue Charity Classic. It took place at B.U.’s Walter Brown Arena. Every year, the competition raises money for Compassionate Care ALS, the Pete Frates Home Health Initiative and the Travis Roy Foundation. This year’s event brought in a recordbreaking $78,432.

Frates is fighting ALS, a disease that affects the brain. A former B.C. baseball team leader, he was diagnosed (诊断) with ALS in 2012, when he was only 27. Frates and his family have since raised hundreds of millions of dollars for ALS research, most famously with the Ice Bucket Challenge, which began in 2014.

“Pete likes social media (媒体) very much, so he wanted his voice, his face, everything that was happening to him to be recorded to help more people,” said John Frates, Pete’s father.

The B.C. and B.U. students enjoy coming together for the event. “This is just the best of the hockey world,” said former B.U. hockey player Travis Roy. “Both schools have a lot of great hockey players. Their skills are impressive, and the fact that they come out here to support good causes is a big deal.”

After a heated battle (较量), the B.U. Terriers won. Afterwards, former B.U. star Charlie McAvoy summed up the feeling of friendliness on the ice. “We all come together,” said McAvoy, who now plays for the Boston Bruins, “and we’re able to put aside the rivalry for great causes.”

文章大意:本文为一篇影评。这篇文章简要介绍了以灰姑娘的童话故事为蓝本的一部现代版的电影Another Cinderella Story,并进行了评价。这是一部和灰姑娘故事相似又有些许不同的故事。

3 . Few of us haven’t read Cinderella, the story of a young woman living in poverty who meets the prince of her dreams. Some might not want to admit it, but there is a hidden Cinderella in everyone’s heart—we all wish we could achieve recognition or success after a period of obscurity (默默无闻) or neglect.

Mary Santiago has that secret dream, too. Her story is featured in Another Cinderella Story, a film set in a US high school.

Mary is shy but loves to dance. Compared with other girls, she is invisible. However, her world changes completely when a famous teenage pop singer, Joey Parker, appears.

Joey is everything the rest of the boys in her class are not—kind, handsome and desirable. Mary and Joey’s paths cross at a ball. They meet and fall in love with each other. But when Mary has to rush back home, she leaves behind her MP3 player, which becomes the only clue Joey has to find the girl of his dreams. Of course, there is a wicked (邪恶的) stepmother, who turns out to be Dominique Blatt and she takes in Mary after her dancer mother dies. Dominique treats Mary like a maid and does everything she can to make sure Mary doesn’t get into the top dance school. Her two daughters are equally determined to stop Joey falling for Mary, even if that means embarrassing her.

The story, though it mostly follows Cinderella, does add a few modern day twists to the classic fairy tale. Refreshingly, the film, unlike many high school films, does not focus on looks, although the actors are all beautiful. There is also a lot less materialism in Another Cinderella Story than in many similar movies.

“The movie takes the fairy tale Cinderella as its jumping off point,” writes movie critic Amber Wilkinson. “The focus is firmly on following your dream. ”

1. The first paragraph is mainly to ________.
A.build interest and lead us to Mary’s secret dream
B.remind us why Cinderella is popular all the years
C.inform us of the main topic of the whole passage
D.tell us how interesting the fairy tale Cinderella is
2. In the movie, Mary Santiago is the main character who ________.
A.is brave in expressing her love
B.is attended to badly by the stepmother
C.has a dream of meeting a prince
D.is embarrassed by the pop singer
3. What can we infer from the passage?
A.Joey is just like other boys in Mary’s class.
B.Mary’s mother influences her a lot in singing.
C.Not many people have a dream to be realized.
D.The MP3 player helps Joey in finding Mary.
4. According   to   the   passage, Another   Cinderella   Story ________.
A.follows Cinderella with nothing new
B.pays more attention to the looks of the actors
C.encourages young people to follow their dreams
D.focuses more on materialism than other films

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,文章主要介绍了有助于清理家里的硬盘、电话和平板电脑等电子设备的三个工具。

4 . Have you ever cleaned and organized your increasingly high-tech households, your hard drive, phone or tablet? It’s not just stuff. Your privacy needs a cleanup too.     1

1. Clean up your browsers(浏览器)

Cookies are blocking everything up and keeping your computer from running fluidly. A free program called CCleaner helps you sort out the cookies and archives(存档)you don’t really need.     2    . CCleaner analyses its backlog of information and lists the data that seems unnecessary.

2. Speed up your smartphone

Most of us already know about e desktops, but what about smartphones? Our phones are essentially handheld computers, and when they overflow with useless information, their operations can also slow down. These aren’t necessarily apps, but overburdened call logs, search history, and saved texts.

For Android users, there’s 1Tap Cleaner, an app that earns its name.     3     Most of us are surprised by how many updated messages and URLs get archived, a data stream that we will probably never refer to again. Then again, you do want to make sure irreplaceable bits (landmark texts, unsaved photos) survive the deep clean.

3.     4

Digital photos are easy to shoot, upload and copy, which is handy in almost every respect, especially if you grew up lugging rolls of film to the one-hour photo lab. The downside is that you may end up with multiple copies of the same picture. If you’re shooting with a decent camera, each shot could take 10MG or more of space. This volume adds up.

5     This is the premise behind Duplicate Photo Fixer, which is designed to filter through your photo collection in search of double takes.

A.Make your photos shine.
B.The app gathers that data in one place, letting you decide what to keep.
C.This aim of this app is to clean your smartphones.
D.Remove redundant images.
E.When you download the app, you can focus on a specific browsers that you would like to clean up.
F.Here are three tools that can help you organize your virtual (and real) environments.
G.The trick is to safely delete redundant photos without losing the original image.
