John Goodenough, born 1922, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2019 for his work on developing lithium-ion batteries.

As a child, Goodenough    1    dyslexia, a learning disorder marked by difficulty in reading and spelling. However, he taught himself to write and eventually    2    to a boarding school. The rigorous and highly structured education there paved the way for his    3    at Yale University, where he graduated with honours in mathematics.
