With the development of science and technology, the modern tools that keep us     1    (connect) are eating away at the meaning of friendship. Social media like blogs has come     2     us and the friends whom we love. Fortunately, my friend, Tim, has made me realize what makes a good friend. 

Tim and I     3     (have) a long talk about his problems today, which left me thinking about what friendship really means. To be a good friend, we should have the following     4     (quality). 

Good friends should be     5     (support) of each other. When Tim is having trouble     6     (balance) his project and his schoolwork, I should respect and support his choices. At the same time, I should also encourage him to take action to get     7     the difficulties. 

Good friends should be unselfish. When Tim is struggling with his schoolwork, I should try my best to help him become a more efficient learner, which will take     8     some of my spare time. But I think the friendship is worth it. 

To me, a good friend brings out the best in a person. I think Tim is the one     9     brings out the best in me. I’ll always value these qualities of a good friend and try     10     (measure) myself by these standards as our friendship develops.
