Stall holders (小摊贩) at     1     bustling night market in Dongyang, Zhejiang province, now have one less thing to worry about after the local trade union federation helped establish a child care center, which spend the same amount of time on a daily basis tending their youngsters as they do     2     (earn) bread and butter at night.

The center     3     (launch) in June on Zhenxing Road to help relieve the pressure on many of those running its 435 street stalls, many of     4     are migrant workers from around the country     5     local relatives to help take care of their children.

During a visit     6     (early) this year to the crowded and noisy market in the     7     (city) Wuning subdistrict, Mao Fenghua, head of the local trade union federation, found a child doing homework near a street stall. “The night market is noisy and crowded. It is hard for the children to keep their attention     8     (focus) on their studies with all the noise, and the parents will never be able to concentrate on their business     9     they have to look after their children,” she said.

Mao visited every stall along the road to learn about     10     (convenient) facing the parents. One of these was Xia Qiongfang, from Hubei province, who sells screen protectors for mobile devices at the night market alongside her husband.

Standing in the National Speed Skating Oval, China’s former speed skating world champion Wang Beixing had mixed emotions. She was jealous of those young athletes who had the chance     1     (skate) on the new rink (溜冰场). And she felt very glad as the testing program in the venue,    2     (know) as the “Ice Ribbon”, was going as smoothly as the athletes skated on the gleaming ice.

Following the     3     (success) testing program on snow in February, the “Experience Beijing” ice sports testing series for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics,    4     (consist) of five Olympic events and two para events, got underway     5     April 1 and 10 in five different competition venues, including the National Speed Skating Oval     6     the 36-year-old Wang Beixing works as the stadium’s sports director.

Earthquake -proof (抗震的) buildings

There are a number of ways     1     buildings can be made strong enough to stand up to earthquakes. The simplest way is to make them much     2     (strong). A building strong enough not     3     (destroy) by a large earthquake, however, would probably look more like a bunker (地堡) than a nice place to live     4    

So engineers have looked for other ways. One is to make the building that can swing (摇摆) from side to side.     5     is to design it so that it doesn't sit directly on the ground but on something that allows it to move a bit with the earthquake. If only a small part of a building     6     (fall) down in an earthquake, damage can be     7     (great) reduced, so buildings are often designed to do this as well.

However,     8     (make) new earthquake -proof buildings is expensive, but with the     9     (develop) of science and technology more efforts will be made to solve     10     problem in the future.
