2 . Paris is a city unlike any other. It is overflowing with culture, history and beauty.

While people travel to Paris to see the Louvre, climb the Eiffel Tower or see Notre-Dame, the real magic is found in the streets. To make sure you don’t miss a thing, take a moment to read through our Paris Travel Guide, where we share our favorite local restaurants.

Le Train Bleu

It’s near impossible to top the atmosphere of Le Train Bleu, a French restaurant located within the Gare de Lyon railway station. The restaurant itself is a historic monument. As you might imagine, you’ll need a reservation to dine under the hand-painted ceilings.

Chez Nanchang

It’s impossible to go wrong at Nanchang’s — everything is fresh, salty, and shareable, and the atmosphere is both fashionable and casual. Grab a few orders of skewered meat and vegetables for the table and an order of soup and enjoy the Chinese street BBQ experience — in Paris. Seating is indoors and they don’t accept reservations.

L’Avant Comptoir de la Terre

Set within Hotel Relays Saint Germain, next to the renowned Le Comptoir du Relais, is the tiny L’Avant Comptoir de la Terre, a tiny, casual, and oh-so-delicious wine bar that will keep you coming back for more. This tiny restaurant doesn’t accept reservations, so be prepared to wait.

Chez Justine

This spot delivers the authentic Parisian brasserie (啤酒店) feel — groups laughing over post work wine, couples waiting at a street-side table, and a busy bar full of the who’s who of the neighborhood. They have fantastic wood-fired pizzas, homemade lasagna, and a great happy hour.

3 . Some libraries use unique architecture to encourage visitors to explore the racks and settle down with a new book, or use flowing libraries to bring books to hard-to-reach populations.

Kansas City Library (Kansas City, Missouri)

The Camel Library Service (North Eastern Province, Kenya)

To fight with low literacy rates in the desert of Kenya, the government created a roaming library composed of nine camels to bring books to villages. The library travels four days a week serving the region’s migratory people. Currently the service focuses on children, but with more funding they plan to increase their reach both in distance and the titles they carry.

Macquarie University Library (Sydney, Australia)

文章大意:本文是一篇议论文。文章主要表达了作者认为“一个人去博物馆是孤独的也是勇敢的,博物馆可以成为所有寻求安静、反思空间的人的绝佳场所。”

5 . When it comes to solitary activities and bravery, going to a museum alone is something you should seek out. When I used to work at a large, encyclopedic museum, I would often wander through the galleries by myself on my lunch break or after work.    1    . So, why not take yourself on an independent date to a museum?

When you visit a large museum alone, especially if there are certain artworks you you’re your heart set on seeing, you can set your own plan.    2    . You can go directly to the galleries you’re interested in and not waste time on art you have little or no desire to see.

Enjoying a museum alone might help you enjoy solitude. Even if you’re a social butterfly, being alone is an inevitable part of life, so it’s important to learn to be comfortable being alone with yourself. A museum is an ideal way to intentionally practice this.    3    .

If you go the route of remaining alone at a museum, you won’t have the distraction of social interaction.    4    . A museum is the perfect place to bring a sketchbook, sit down somewhere and draw what’s around you with no aim or judgment.

5    . The thought of going to a place as public as a museum by yourself might be intimidating(令人生畏的), but I encourage you to try it out. You might discover another side to yourself, to the art or to other people that you wouldn’t have experienced otherwise.

B.You can welcome imagination in those quiet moments
C.You can be highly selective in how you plan your visit

E.As a result, you’ll be better equipped for those lonelier times in life
F.A museum can be a great place for all seeking a quiet, reflective space

7 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

The Toy Tree

It was a bare tree with thin branches which looked like they might snap (折断) at any moment, but it was the only tree in the estate gardens. In spring, the tree cheered up the grey concrete with its blossom. And, in summer, its shade comforted the restless heat.

Gabe loved the tree. He and his friends played by it all the time. The tree’s blessing for the community, but not for Mr. Snider, the caretaker, who hated the tree. When he had to mow (割) the grass around it or sweep its blossoms or fallen leaves from the path, he would grumble (咕哝), “It’s in my way.” or “Who has to clean up all this mess? Me, that’s who!”

Sometimes he threatened to cut it down. One morning before the coming New Year, Gabe spotted him walked towards the tree with a chainsaw (电锯). He shouted, “Mum! What’s Mr. Snider doing?” Mum put down her knitting needles — she was knitting everyone scarves and came over to the window. Gabe grabbed her hand and ran down two flights of stairs to the garden. Soon they were standing between Mr. Snider and the tree.

“Out of my way,” said the caretaker. “Time for this eyesore (眼中钉) to go.”

“This eyesore is of great public interest.” Mum tried to sound important.

“And we love this tree,” begged Gabe.

“Not a good enough reason.” Mr. Snider was getting his chainsaw ready.

Gabe desperately tried to think of more reasons to keep the tree, then he remembered the toy tree he’d seen in town. It had colourful gift tags (礼品签) on it and written on every tag was the name of a toy a child had wished for. Mum had explained to him that if someone took a tag and bought the gift on it, the charity would send it to a child who might not get New Year presents.
