What to know?Next door to the La Brea Tar Pits sits the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), the linchpin of the Los Angeles museum district. The Ahmanson Building, the Hammer Building, and the Art of the Americas Building are historical structures that have long been part of the museum’s landscape. Currently, the museum is constructing a new building for its permanent collection, called the David Geffen Galleries, which is scheduled to open in 2024. For now, pieces will be on display in the Broad Contemporary Art Museum (BCAM) and the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion. The Urban Light and Levitated Mass exhibits remain open to visitors. There is a restaurant and grab-and-go eatery on-site. Many visitors appreciated both the indoor and outdoor art exhibits and were impressed with the size of the collection of modern and contemporary art.

1. Environmental Club
Club members are provided opportunities to realize their goals of environmental service. The majority of projects are student-initiated. Last year’s activities included: the LFHS Courtyard Garden upkeep, Bike to School Day with free cocoa and snacks, an “eat local” 100mile dinner, recycling solutions for LFHS, beach cleanup through the Great Lakes Alliance, and Earth Week celebrations.

2. Peer Tutoring

Young Idea is LFHS’s art and literary magazine. Students of all ages who love writing and art are encouraged to become part of the staff of this award winning magazine. From September to February, Young Idea meets on Thursdays after school in the Public Room to discuss the pieces that have been submitted to the magazine and provide feedback for the authors.

9 . Where to Cut Your Own Christmas Tree
Here are some local Christmas tree farms in America that offer you an opportunity to get your own Christmas tree safely, without sacrificing (牺牲) any holiday spirit.
Peltzer Pines (松树) Farm
Peltzer Pines Farm grows acres of Monterey pine and Leyland cypress trees in two Orange County locations, Brea and Silverado. Because of COVID-19, visitors are not allowed to cut the trees on their own. Still, you can choose the perfect tree and the staff will cut it for you. Cash or check only, no credit cards. No photos as group photos make it hard to keep social distancing. Trees start at $49.
