7 . Take It Inside: How to Keep Your House Cool This Summer

Keeping your home cool during a hot summer season is never easy. But it’s not impossible, just read on to learn more about keeping your house cool in even the highest temperatures.

·     1

Using the oven during the warmer months is just asking for heat stroke — and pretty unnecessary. Overnight oatmeal is a favorite no-bake breakfast. Just add some oats, milk and brown sugar to a glass jar.     2     Come morning time, it’s ready without ever having to turn on the oven.

·Avoid the washer and dryer when temperatures are higher.

In the summer, fashion should be as relaxed as your attitude because who wants to wash, dry, and fold in the heat? No thanks. Simply hand wash your clothes in cold water and let it air dry outside while cooling off with friends.     3

·Close doors and open windows.

4     — you’ll want to keep the cool air contained to the places in your home most used. Alternatively, as temperatures drop in the evening, keep your windows open and let the air flow in. But be sure to close those windows and shades first thing in the morning before temperatures heat up again.

·Make easy sun tea recipe.

Tea is a longtime summer tradition — the process involves making tea in boiling water.     5     Simply add cold water and tea bags to a large glass container, and then place in a spot that gets direct sunlight. Add refreshing flavors, like fresh herbs and slices of lemon, and let the cool-down begin.

A.Turn your oven off.
B.Breakfast is simple.
C.Let the sun do the work for you!
D.Boiling water should be ready at hand.
E.Then place it in the refrigerator overnight.
F.Any room you’re not using, keep that door closed.
G.No drying means no heat gets caught in your home.

A man who had gone out of his town came back and found that his house was on fire. It was one of the most beautiful houses in the town, and the man loved the house the most! Many were ready to give a double price for the house, but he never agreed for any price and now it was just burning before his eyes. And thousands of people gathered, but nothing could be done. The fire spread so far that even if you tried to put it out, nothing would be saved. So he became very sad.

His son came running and whispered something in his ear, “Don't be worried. I sold it yesterday and at a very good price. The offer was so good, and I could not wait for you. Forgive me.”

The father said. “Thank God, it's not ours now!” Then he became relaxed and stood as a silent watcher, just like other watchers.

Then the second son came running, and he said to the father, “What are you doing? The house is on fire and you are only watching it burning?” The father said, "Don't you know your brother has sold it?"

He said, “We have taken only advance amount, not settled fully. I doubt now whether the man is going to purchase it.”

Tears which had disappeared came back to the father's eyes, and his heart started to beat fast. Then the third son came, and he said, “That man is a man of his word. I have just come from him. He said, ‘It doesn't matter whether the house is burnt or not, it is mine. And I am going to pay the price that I have settled for. Neither you nor I knew that the house would catch fire.’”

10 . At age 65, my grandfather decided to build a new house. He wasn't quite sure what to do with the old house. It seemed a waste to pull it down, but it sat where the new house would be. So he hired a bulldozer to push the old house far out into a grove of trees.

My grandfather passed away, and I took over his farm. My wife and I raised our sons on this farm and have lived here for more than 30 years.

When we first moved in, my wife took one look at the old house and thought it was a hazard. I agreed and planned on a huge bonfire. But I thought it necessary to check out the old house first, just in case something of value had been left behind.

Our two young sons came along. Most of the windows were gone, and the siding was falling off. We entered through an open window.

Here lay the waste of my grandparents’ lives. A broken chair. The stove. Some old clothes in a large bag. But the thing that drew my eye was a cardboard box filled with papers. I dug through its contents and was immediately transported back in time. There was a tax return from 1957. Canceled checks from June 1962. Greeting cards from old friends and relatives. My uncle's third-grade spelling book.

I spent most of an enjoyable hour going through that box. All the while, I had to answer questions from my sons about the old house. They were surprised that nine people once lived in the tiny house.

As I left the old house that day, I took a look at it over my shoulder. I don't care what anyone thinks, I decided. That old house gets to stay there until it rots into the earth.

1. What do we know about the old house from paragraph 1?
A.It was difficult to move.B.It was in no condition to live in.
