Today is the anniversary of No.1 Middle School. A number of schoolmates    1    (invite) to attend the meeting and the number    2    (come) to 5,000. Many a famous scholar    3    (arrive) and more than one    4    (make) great contributions to the building of their school. It just    5    (fall) on the second day of the National Holiday, so many of the students studying at school    6    (stay) at home while the rest    7    (remain) at school, helping their teachers to serve the guests. As far as everyone present at the meeting    8    (be) concerned, their school is always the best.

At 8 am, the old craftsman with a large box was invited to our class. We greeted him with thunderous applause (鼓掌). He sat down to show us how to make dough figurines (面人).     2     (他很有耐心，仔细地解释每一步). So attentive were we that we quickly mastered the method and couldn’t wait to get started.     3     (在我们制作自己的“艺术品”期间，手艺人走在我们中间给我们指导). Soon, we all finished our pieces and took pictures with the old craftsman, and a sense of excitement immediately filled the classroom.

What a meaningful day it was!     4     (我们渴望参加更多这样的活动).

Woods High School requests the honour of your presence at the opening of Tech Art Festival on the twelfth of November. The event will begin at Williams Sports Centre at 6 pm with a welcome address followed by awards ceremony, with the evening closing at 8 pm.

Tech Art will run from the twelfth to the sixteenth of November and will feature the works of over one hundred of our students. Visitors will be able to see and experience a wide variety of artworks from 3D sculptures to artworks made out of phone and computer parts.

Star Primary Schools art studio, Room 26, is open to any child at play time, lunchtime, or after school

On Fridays, if the children have completed all their schoolwork, they can spend the rest of day there. Artist Bob Smith and his assistant loan Grant Gibb are the only adults     1    (work) there. They are the children’s employees. Room 26 is an independent business separate from the school, and has a committee of members all under the age of 12. For the committee, they need to think of some ways     2     (make) ends meet. They take and sell school photographs. They also make cards     3    (sell). Another way of managing their finance is     4     (raise) more funds, Thus they can pay for art materials and employ professional artists.

Instead of     5     (teach) how to draw, the purpose of Room 26 is    6     (offer) a kind of creative education. In Room 26, students are encouraged    7     (be) creative and responsible for themselves. They have the freedom     8    (pursue) their own ideas and interests rather than     9     (follow) a curriculum.
