As the spring semester came to close, the Pierce College Art Department celebrated with our last presentation of the semester. The Art Gallery showcases more than 100 pieces, included pencil drawings, cardboard 3D design, art made out of clay and wood sculpting. For most of the art students, it was amazing to see and interacting with not only their peers but their professors through over the screen online. There was also an award ceremony hold for students for their outstanding work but perseverance throughout the semester. A student expressed how happy he was to receive the award with his exciting voice, “Art has helped me evolve via different medium.”

Last Thursday afternoon, I attended for a special class livestreamed by the Shenzhou-13 crew members from Tiangong Space Station.
The amazing class started at 3:40 p.m. but lasted about 45 minutes. At the beginning of the class, under the help of the other two workmates, Wang Yaping showed us their living and working areas. She is the first female astronaut enter China’s space station. To my astonishing, they have a fully functional kitchen and there are some fitness equipment as well.
After the “house tour”, the crew worked together to conduct some experiments relating to cells and liquid in the weightless environment. They also explain the reason that astronauts couldn’t walk like they did on Earth.
It was so funny and I learned a lot.

Our school held an activity on last Sunday because it was “Earth Day”. Hundred of students took part in it. I am one of them. First, the headmaster gave us a speech about how to protect earth—our home. Then we went hiking, this was about 15km. Although the hiking was very tired, none were left behind. It is no doubt that all of us like the activity. In the future, they will try hardly to protect the environment. We hope we will take part in more activity about caring about the globe.

Last Sunday, our class took a trip to the West Mountain Park. At 8:00 a. m., we gathered on the playground and march in a line towards the park. We were all in highly spirits. We sang and chatted as we climbed along the winding walkway, enjoyed green trees and blossoming flower. It was not until we reached the lawn square at top of the mountain where we had a rest and took photos. An hour later, we picked up after us and returned. Both my legs was heavy on the way back. This week I took part in a knowledge competition on the Silk Road held in our school, which gave me a great sense for achievement. On Monday, a poster, which announced the competition, attracting my attention. I immediately sign up for it. A few days later, I participated the first round of the competition, a difficult written test. Since there were a many competitors, I succeeded in entering the final. It was held this morning and on the stage in the hall, I answered most of the questions accurate. When interviewing by the school TV station, I expressed my proud in our splendid culture. The competition not only broadened my knowledges but also encouraged me to learn more about our own culture in the future.

Yesterday afternoon, my best friend and I visited art exhibition with the theme of traditionally Chinese paintings in the hall on the second floor of the school library.
The exhibition opens from 3: 00 to 5: 00 every afternoon in this month. A huge number of works painting by students are on display. Among they are paintings on birds, flowers and shrimps. They are very vivid that I can hardly tell that they are living or just painted. The exhibition not only widens my knowledges about Chinese culture, but also enrich my after-class life.

When I was in primary school, I was quite good in doing sit-ups. In sixth grade, I took part in the sit-up competition between school. My gymnastics practices helped I prepare. Still, I was nervous. That day, my mom, teachers, and my classmates cheer me on. After an hour my stomach hurt. I thought about how my mom had just finished her running race of 42 kilometers. That encouraged me keep going. Finally, I did 2,110 sit-ups and finished in first place. I couldn’t believe it! I was tiring, so I felt great. All the kids around looked at me like I’d just done something greatly. That made me pride of myself.

Last year, our class paid a visit a local nursing home. After arrive there, we saw some elder doing Tai chi. They gave us an impression of being energetic but healthy. But there was also some old people seated in the wheelchair. They were out of the shape, which made me a few sad. They must have experienced a hard life in the past. During that visit, we chat with the old and did some cleaning here. We had such a good time. This year, we plan to visit it again and hope more people care about the old so that they can be healthy, peace and happy for the rest of their life.
Hello, everyone! I would like to share my travel experience for you. Last summer, ours school had an exchange programme with an American school, but I took part in it with many classmates. We stay at host families, that gave us an opportunity to learn more about America. The main part of our programme was to experience the school life in the America. Compare with Chinese students, American students were very open and active. Besides, they had less homeworks and fewer exams. During the visit, I made friends with some American students, who were very interesting in Chinese culture. I think the programme is of great benefit to us as well the American students.
