I like reading because books are good teachers and helpful friend. When I am a child , I got into the habit of read. In the past years , I have read many the books. It is universally known that World Reading Day falls on April 23^rd, which reminded us of the importance of reading. We are supposed to reading more on that special day. But the situation for we to read nowadays is not satisfied.

For example, when we are at home, we would rather to watch TV or surf the Internet than read books. As a result, we spend such little time on books. However, reading books has many strength. Not only can our abilities and skills be improved, and we can also get some information from reading. Besides, reading books brings us happiness.

I think it good habit that in our spare time we read more books on great use.

3 . Tips to create great readers

Great readers are made; they are not born. After all, children don’t enter the world knowing how to understand a text or make inferences.     1    Here are some tips for making children great readers by habit.

    2    The most important moment in reading instruction is when a student gets something wrong. If the student continues practicing the skill incorrectly, he or she will build weaker habits. Intervene (干预) with a targeted question, such as “How does this part of the text help you understand this character?” Doing so can prevent poor habits from taking root and build great ones in their place.

Children who read do better at school. And they don’t just do better at subjects like reading, English and history.     3    

Reading is a great form of entertainment! A paperback book or an e-reader doesn’t take up much space so you can take it anywhere and you’ll never be lonely or bored if you have a book in your bag.     4    

Reading relaxes the body and calms the mind.     5    The constant movement, flashing lights and noise are quite stressful for our brains. When we read in silence, the black print on a white page is much less stressful for our eyes and brains.

6 . Do you know how to pick a good book you’ll really like? Here are some tips.

7 .        We feel it important to start reading to your child right from the start—the younger the better! With little ones (children from birth to 4) it is very important to read and reread books. Starting early makes the job of the listener (for you will be teaching your child how to listen) easier, as it helps to develop an early love of the written and spoken word.

We believe that you should read aloud to your child at least once every day. Set a special reading time during the day or evening when you can settle down (安静下来) and enjoy a book, without interruption. For most families, reading aloud at bedtime is a common practice.

We understand that it can be quite discouraging to read to a child who takes no interest. Take heart! Learning to listen takes experience. The more you read, the more your child will learn to sit for a story. Children have a natural development of responses (反应) to your reading. By the time your child reaches 6-7 months, she/he is attracted by the book in your hand, and would like to test it out by using it as a chew (咀嚼) toy. This is natural! By one year, your child is learning to listen and talk about the pages, often shouting out things she/he recognizes. Encourage this!
