2 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

A picture book stood quietly on the shelf of a children’s bookstore, waiting for young readers to read it.

One day, a little girl came. She sat down on the ground and read the picture book with interest. Then she put it back on the shelf, took out her pocket and said to the book, “I love you so much, but I can’t afford you. My father is working out of the town, and my mother is ill now. You see, my pocket is empty. I have no money.”

The next day, the little girl came again. She read the picture book again, and wrote a note, reading: “I want to read you once more, but I can’t come tomorrow because I will go to the hospital to take care of my mother. Can you fly over to my house like a bird? The note has my home address on it.” She put the note into the book, and left the bookstore.

How the picture book wanted to fly into the arms of the little girl! Books needed readers who liked them most, just like the little girl needed her mother. But it was not a bird. It could not fly, and its hardcover could not flap like wings. The picture book could do nothing but huddle (蜷缩) in the middle of the books, waiting for the girl to come again.

One day, there was a big boy who loved reading. He put all the books he liked into his shopping basket, including the picture book. His mother paid the bill for all the books without saying anything.

The big boy had his own bookshelf in his room, with all kinds of books ranked neatly on it. He began to read one book after another that he had bought. When he got to the picture book, he found the note. He was so surprised that he gave it to his mother. His mother read it and was deeply touched, knowing that there was a little girl who loved the picture book but could not afford it. They resolved to deliver the picture book to the address that the little girl had written on the note.

3 . 读后续写

One day when I was 12, my mother gave me an order: I was to walk to the public library, and borrow at least one book for the summer. This was one more way for her to solve my strange problem—inability (没能力)to read.

In the library, I found my way into the “Children’s Room”. I pulled a few books off the shelf and sat down on the floor. The cover of a book caught my eye. It presented a picture of dog. I had recently had a dog, the first and only animal companion I ever had as a child. He was the one I could share secrets with, but later he was given away to someone who had space and money to care for him. I never forgot my dog.

On the book’s cover, there was a dog which looked the same as mine. I figured the   picture of the dog on the cover. My eyes ran across the little, Amos, the Dog with a Plan. Without opening the book, I borrowed it from the library for the summer.

Under the shade of a bush, I started to read about Amos. I read very, very slowly with difficulty and got the main ides of the story about a dog who, like mine, had been separated from his family and who finally found his way back home. At the end of the story, my mind continued the final scene of reunion. When I finished my reading, a stream of tears ran down my cheeks. It was until then that I realized I had begun to overcome my inability to read. Thus, this was the very first book for me which I had read through and deeply immersed myself in the real scene.

5 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Jackie was searching for her library book in her room. Outside her house stood her friend Sasha waiting for her to go to the library. But the book was missing.

Jackie then ran into her sister’s bedroom. “Have you seen my library book? Last week my book was bitten by your cat. The week before that, you dropped my book in the park,” Jackie asked angrily. Her sister shook her head. Despite her efforts, Jackie found no traces of the book there.

“What’s taking you so long, Jackie?” Mom’s voice rang through the house. “I need to find my library book. It has a red cover. It’s due (到期) today. If I have lost the library book, I am not allowed to check out any books for a whole month,” Jackie sighed, walking down the stairs. She nearly ran into her mom, who was carrying a heavy laundry (待洗衣物) basket.

“Good luck with that book. The library closes in twenty minutes.” Mom stopped to grab Jackie’s clothes from the railing and wrinkled her nose. “I’m putting these in the laundry,” said Mom, disappearing down the basement stairs.

Jackie ran around the house, looking under the sofa, in the fridge, and behind the piano. However, the book was nowhere to be found. Where was that library book? The thought of not being able to get into the world of stories and knowledge for a whole month made her feel very sad. Jackie sank onto the living room sofa, her mind racing with thoughts of the result she would soon face.

Just then Mom came into the living room and suddenly said, “Have you searched all the places? You need to think carefully and see if you’ve missed anything?” “I’ve searched everywhere I can think of, but I still haven’t found it,” Jackie almost cried. “I looked for you in your painting room in the backyard last night where you were practising your painting. I seemed to see a red thing. Maybe it was in the painting room,” Mom added.

8 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Mash Assadollah was the grocer at our corner store. Standing behind his glass display case, he tore out a page from a book. He twisted the page into a cone-shaped envelope and then filled it with tobacco. He then weighed the tobacco. He folded the envelope of tobacco closed and handed it to me. I was also buying sugar cubes and tea. Mash Assadollah calculated the amounts on an abacus (算盘). I paid him and left.

When I got home, Grandmother took the goods I had purchased, emptied the envelopes of their ingredients, handed me the wrappers, and asked me to throw them away.

It was summer vacation, and I didn’t have much to do. To keep myself busy, I sat down in a corner of the room and started to read the wrappers, which had once been eight consecutive (连续的) pages of a book. How well written and attractive the words were! It was a good story. I sat there until I had read all eight pages. Honestly, I had never read a book before, except for my textbooks. But when I read those eight pages, I realized that I now loved reading! The only problem was that the story stopped right at the best part, right at the end of Page 22, which was the most important and exciting point in the story.

It was about a boy who wanted to run away from home and escape his father who was always spanking (打屁股) him, but the boy was afraid. He finally left home but didn’t know where to go. I was excited to find out where he would go and what would happen to him.

9 . 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。

A Wise Friend

This story begins one late afternoon in Carl’s backyard, in Detroit, Michigan. Carl and I were sixteen years old. We had just finished playing stickball, and I was about to get on my bike to go home.

“Wait a minute,Benny.” Carl yelled. He ran into his house and came back with a book for me to take home and read. All he said was, “See if you like it, and it will help you a lot.” I said absolutely nothing. I hated school because I hated reading. I kept the book for a couple of weeks and then returned it unread. Carl never asked me whether I liked it or not.

During the following two years, Carl lent me three more books. The last one was Martin Eden by Jack London. Each time I returned them unread.

A few days after graduating from high school, Carl asked,“Benny, I’m applying for Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, and what college are you going to?”

“I’m not going to college.”

“Why not?” he asked.

“Because my father can’t afford the seventy-five dollars for tuition.”

“Is that it?” Carl asked.

“Yes,” I said.

I lied. I had no intention of going back to school now that I was out.

The following day Carl knocked on my door and handed me a check for seventy-five dollars from his father.

“I think that should do it,” he said.

Once again I was in shock. What could I say except thank you? Because I was working full-time in my brother’s bakery, I enrolled in two classes at Wayne State University in Detroit part-time at night.

Halfway through the semester, and after receiving failing grades on exams and essays, I decided that there was no way I would ever become a brilliant student and get satisfactory grades. I dropped out of college and continued working in the bakery.

10 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Just before we got married, my husband, Spode, and I bought the house from the Gehards, who were moving to Australia. As they couldn't take much abroad with them, they left almost everything in the house to us, among which were two bookshelves packed with thick books. I liked the fine furniture, the tasteful kitchenware and even the pictures on the wall but I didn't think much of the books.

The day they handed over the house to us, we walked around in the house with the Gehards for the last time. They told us about the good times they had and the stories behind the objects in the house, giving me a sense of warmth of a family. When Mr. Gehard led us to the bookshelves, he said to us, "These are great books written by the great minds in human history. I hope you can read them. " Though Spode and 1 were not much of bookworms, we promised them we would, because we knew we could make Mr. Gehard feel better that way. We could see that it was hard for him to say goodbye to the house as well as the books, both of which he treasured so much.

After we moved in, to keep our promise to Mr. Gehard, Spode managed to find some time each day to read some pages of those great books. It was not typical of him, because he was one of those who would rather spend most of their spare time before screens. Curiously enough, as time went by, his interest in the books grew gradually and he began talking to me about what he read with amazement. To find out what accounted for his newly developed fondness for those serious-looking thick books, I also picked one up. Finally, we both found attachment to the books and made it a rule to read in the evenings. Reading became part of our life. Those books opened up new worlds for us, gave us new visions and enriched our life in many ways.

1 .续写的词数应为150左右;

One evening as we were reading, a small piece of something fell onto the desk from between the pages of the book I was reading.
