文章大意:这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了现代图书馆的改变,已经变成了一个顾客可以在那里培养对知识的热爱,结识有趣的人,或者找到如何创业的方法的地方。

2 . Maybe, you are one of those who just paid a visit to a library several years ago. If so, you may be surprised to learn that libraries have changed for the better.     1    . They have transformed themselves into places where you can develop your love of knowledge, meet interesting people, or find out how to start a business.

Check out a book. While libraries still loan out (出借) books, you’ll find it easier to get a copy of whatever you’re looking for, thanks to cooperation among the area libraries.     2    . Once the book you’ve requested is delivered to the nearest branch, they will inform you by e-mail, so you can pick it up.

Search for other items. The library is now a multimedia zone, loaded with information in many forms. You can borrow movies on DVDs, music on CDs, and popular magazines.     3    . If what interests you isn’t available at the moment, the library keeps a list of such requests, they may bring it in when enough interest is shown.

Join targeted reading groups. Libraries will often hold reading-group sessions for various age groups.     4    , and the library may sponsor one you could join. If you have difficulties reading, ask about special reading opportunities. And you might find it relaxing to bring your small kid to a half-hour Story Time while you sit quietly in a corner with a good book.

5    . If you want to do so, your local library can become a launch space for it. In library books and computers, you can find the needed information. Many libraries will help you with locally supplied information about management shared through companies, factories and government agencies, and they will offer printing, faxing and database services you need.

A.Set up a library in your own style
B.Some libraries even supply toys and games
C.There are some most popular libraries in the world
D.Start a business using the help of your local library
E.It’s been years since they were dusty little rooms with books
F.Perhaps you’d like to learn a language or improve your English
G.Via such networks, libraries share their books through the use of delivery vehicles

5 . How to Host a Book Swap

If you love the written word, you probably have a pile of books somewhere in your home.     1    If you’re becoming alarmed at the price of new books, hold a book swap. The idea is pretty simple Guests bring books to share, and the accumulated books are then redistributed to new owners. If you’ve never held a book swap before, here are a few tips.

Send out invitations. A formal invitation should include the address, date and duration. A 2 to 3 hour party gives everyone a chance to enjoy the time and leave happy.     2    Three books is pretty standard. If you want extras around, don’t set a maximum.

Provide enough space. Some people use one large dining table and start piling up books when they run out of space.     3    They can offer people a chance to consider their selections without having to juggle piles of books while they’re doing it.

4    To make sure guests can find what interests them, the easiest way to do this is to mart sections on the table for specific types of books. When people arrive, hand out a brief set of instructions, asking them to place their books in the right category.

Make it a party. When you’re in the planning stages, think party and you’ll be one step ahead of the game.     5    Create some good interactions with a little background music. Have an area set aside for coats and bags. Remember, you are hosting a party!

A.Organize books by types.
B.Prepare different kinds of books.
C.Offer food that’s easy to eat in a bite or two
D.However, the area around the book table may be small.
E.But there’s always a new book around that interests you.
F.Actually, a couple of tables can take care of the problem.
G.It’s also a good idea to limit the number of books guests bring

9 . Reading is a healthy habit that everyone should develop from childhood because of the benefits that come with it.     1     Therefore, take your time and start by reading slowly. The following will discuss the effects of not reading books, so you can basically consider and judge where you are and understand how reading can be beneficial.

2     People who don’t read and don’t like to read find it harder to learn than people who actually read. For example, most students who fail to develop a reading habit find it difficult to get through school. This then leads to students dropping out, which is bad for society. Reading is a habit that strengthens the brain and develops your inborn love of wanting to learn more. Therefore, not being addicted to books closes you off from this.

Narrow mindedness. Reading a variety of books broadens the readers’ mind. Most people who don’t read have a certain narrow mindedness to them that can easily be noticed.     3     When you don’t read, you’re forced to take everything at face value and then create and shape your views in this way.

Low brain power. One advantage of reading is its ability to improve brain function. Reading can help people become better thinkers and use brains more effectively. People who don’t read usually have low brain power because they don’t exercise the brain as much as readers do.     4

Poor imagination. Reading books allows you to tap into your imaginative power.     5     This is important because it expands (拓展) your thought process as well as the ability to understand. People who don’t read books usually are short of the inspiration necessary to create imagination. This makes it difficult to be creative.

A.Learning difficulty.
B.The reason for this is simple.
C.Such exercise strengthens the brain.
D.Inability to fully understand the world.
E.It then makes you picture what you read.
F.It is developed slowly just as any habit would.
