3 . The traditional Chinese Shaoxing opera has a long history, but these days it seems that young people don’t show much interest in it.
Nowadays, as pop music and online films are popular with the public, Shaoxing opera is struggling for its survival. The market of the opera is becoming smaller. It remains popular only with the older generation. According to Zhejiang provincial cultural department, the most of fans of Shaoxing opera, China’s second largest traditional opera, are above 40 years old. And many teenagers know nothing about Shaoxing opera and have never been to the theatre.

Actually, not only Shaoxing opera but also many other traditional Chinese operas are in danger. That’s really worrying. Luckily, people are trying to protect them. For example, Kunqu has been listed as one of the Masterpieces (杰作) of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO since 2001.

Yesterday, when I complained to my mom about too little entertainment, she share the story of her youth with me. In the 1980s, neither iPads and smartphones were invented. Each time when evenings approached, the children around would crowd into the only house where had a television. We stared at the small screen until the program ended. Parent would make every effort to drag their children to bed when it was getting lately. But now, iPads and smartphones have taken place of televisions. No wonder my mom always says we are the generation grown up in a honey jar. After listening to my mom's story I felt lucky to live so a happy and comfortable life.

7 . Superheroes have taken over cinemas for the past 10 years. Superman, Thor, Iron Man, the Black Panther and many more have featured in film series with serious and complex storylines about the end of the universe. However, the makers of Shazam, which came out in China on April 5, have a different take on the superhero movie.
“It’s just a light, funny … action comedy about a boy in a superman’s body,” wrote Owen Gleiberman in his review for Variety magazine.
Billy Batson, the film’s main character, is a 14-year-old who’s spent his life going in and out of foster homes (寄养家庭). One day, on the way to another home, Billy escapes to the subway and meets a wizard (巫师), who gives him magical powers. Whenever Billy says the magic word – “Shazam” – he changes into an adult-sized man with superhuman powers. These new powers include wisdom, strength, stamina, courage and speed. He can also fly.
But how does Billy use his godlike new superpowers? With the help of his new foster brother, Freddie Freeman, Billy tests his strength like any teenager would do – by breaking the rules. He smashes (砸碎) open a soda machine to get free sodas, tricks his teachers, and even buys beer.
While the film is fun and silly, it also has emotional weight. A major part of the story centers on Billy’s search for his real mother. And later, when he faces the villainous Dr Thaddeus Sivana, a former misfit (不合群的人) kid himself, Billy realizes that his new powers can’t fix every problem. He also learns that he has something precious to protect – his new family.
“With strong messages about families of all shapes and sizes and the importance of supporting and nurturing young people, Shazam really feels like the movie we need right now,” wrote Rosie Fletcher at the website Den of Geek.

8 . The Master of Suspense(悬念)
One of England’s greatest movie directors was a man by the name of Alfred Hitchcock, born in 1899. He made many famous black and white movies that were scary and full of suspense, therefore his nickname as the “Master of Suspense”. His most famous films include The Birds and Psycho. Most of his films were murder mysteries, with clever dialogues, interesting plots and talented actors and actresses. He was also a revolutionary filmmaker and introduced many new techniques to the movie-making industry. Hitchcock had a roundish belly and a big nose, which made his profile very recognizable. He was not an actor but he loved to make cameo appearances in his own films.
Hitchcock was an unusual man. For example, he produced frightening movies about mysterious murders, and yet once he said his own greatest fear was the fear of small children!
Hitchcock also had a very clever imagination, which is especially clear in his movie The Birds. In this terrifying movie, a town is attacked by a large flock of black birds. The angry birds break into people’s homes to take revenge.
This man’s great imagination is also reflected in Psycho, which is one of the most famous British movies of all time. In Psycho, a young man claims to run a small motel with his elderly mother. But it turns out that the mother is fictional; she exists only in the young man’s head. At night, he dresses up like his mother and sits near the window for people to see. But after midnight he breaks into his guests’ bedrooms and murders them.
In Hitchcock’s time and era, murder mysteries were not gruesome(可怕的), like many of today’s horror films with lots of blood. They thrilled audiences with their focus on plot and suspense.
