文章大意:本文是说明文。文章介绍了由作家梁晓声的作品改编的电视剧《人世间》。该电视剧回顾了距今五十年中国老百姓的生活,追溯了新中国发展的历史。

1 . Adapted from Liang Xiaosheng’s award-winning novel, the realistic drama A Li felong Journey recently has been a huge hit on TV and online.     1

Given that A Lifelong Journey is set in the 1960s, it’s not surprising that the family has to deal with lots of social changes and uncertainties, like the restoration of Gaokao, the country’s reform and opening-up, the passion for private business and so on.     2     To create the neighborhood, the shooting crew built a set covering 8, 000 square meters in Changchun, Jilin province, collecting many old items, such as old-fashioned televisions and calendars, to re-create the past. The clothing, like Lei Feng-style hats, and interior spaces, also play an essential part, changing with time as the plot develops.

The five virtues in Confucianism—benevolence (仁), righteousness (义), courtesy(礼), wisdom and trust can be found in the lead character Zhou Bingkun, the youngest son in the family.     3     In the show, Zhou Bingkun used to be a factory worker, the one who has taken care of the big family and friends selflessly.

Following the lives of Zhou’s family, the drama gives viewers an insight into the lives of ordinary Chinese.     4     It is the kind of show that strikes your heartstrings and leaves you in tears even if you’ve already read the book.     5

A.No wonder viewers thought highly of this drama.
B.It is time to create such a drama to remember the bygone times.
C.China has witnessed dramatic changes over the past five decades.
D.And it explores themes of family, friendship and romance in a bittersweet story.
E.He was played by Lei Jiayin, who says he can almost “see his father” in the drama.
F.Disney has also announced it has acquired the drama series for an international release.
G.Most of the narrative took place in a shantytown (棚户区), where Zhou’s family lives.

Not long after Freddy and the band became famous, they visited Britain on a brief tour. Fans showed their devotion by waiting for hours to get tickets for their concerts. Freddy was now quite confident when he went into a concert hall. He enjoyed singing and all the congratulations afterwards! His most exciting invitation was to perform on a TV programme called Top of the Pops. He had to go to London, wear an expensive suit and give a performance to a TV camera. It felt very strange. But as soon as the programme was over, the telephones which were in the same room started ringing. Everybody was asking when they could see Freddy and his band again. They were truly stars.

Then things went wrong. Freddy and his band could not go out anywhere without being followed. Even when they wore sunglasses or beards, people recognized them. Fans found them even when they went into the toilet. They tried to hide in the reading rooms of libraries, but it was useless. Someone was always there! Their personal life was regularly discussed by people who did not know them but talked as if they were close friends. At last feeling very upset and sensitive, Freddy and his band realized that they must leave the country before it became too painful for them. So they left Britain, to which they were never to return.

1. What was the trouble the band had when they became famous?
2. How would your life change if you became famous overnight? Discuss with your classmates.

4 . Everyone wants to be a pop star. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a pop star.    1    You get to sing and dance and make voices. People are willing to pay you tons of money and, of course, many fans love you. It’s a perfect life; what could be the problems?
2    And one of the biggest problems is “crazy” fans who live their idols (偶像) too much. Andy Lau, the Hong Kang superstar, experienced that last year. A fan was so crazy about Andy that she persuaded her parents to spend all their money and travel to Hong Kang to meet him. Andy is a nice man so he met the girl and talked with her for a few minutes.
That should have been the end of the story, but it wasn’t!    3    In despair (绝望), the father jumped into the sea and said it was because Andy Lau had made him poor and had made his daughter a “crazy” fan. It’s a very sad story and it shows what can happen when ordinary people become crazy pop fans.
We like famous persons, and we enjoy listening to them.    4     And some people think that, since they love the pop star, the pop star should love then back. That’s crazy!    5    They have their own families and friends. Their job is to entertain us, not to love us. So, don’t be a “crazy” fan, be a good fan, and just appreciate the joy, the happiness and the excitement that your favorite pop star bring you.
A.Well, clearly, there are lots of problems.
B.Sometimes we think we know them as well as we know our closest friends.
C.It seems like the coolest job in the world.
D.The family had spent all their money to meet Andy and they had no money to return home.
E.They hated the superstar.
F.Pop stars have their own personal lives.
