China requests names for solar observatory

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has initiated a call for suggestions to name the country’s newest solar observatory, which will be launched into a sun-synchronous     1     in October.

The newest Chinese solar observation satellite, the Advanced Space-Based Solar Observatory (ASO-S), will help solar physicists study the relationships between the solar magnetic     2    , solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). Together with other such observatories, it will provide a fuller picture of solar activity and     3     for studies on the sun.

NASA unveils first full-color images from Webb

NASA on Tuesday showcased the first full-color images captured by the James Webb Space Telescope.     1     (take) by the telescope’s near-infrared camera, the image — dubbed Webb’s First Deep Field — captured thousands of galaxies in sharp detail.

The image showcases the galaxy cluster SMACS 0723 as it     2     (appear) 4.6 billion years ago, according to NASA. The $10 billion project is the world’s     3     (large) and most powerful space observatory ever built. The telescope was launched into space last December from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.

Short space trips for paying passengers on the way

CAS Space, a Beijing-based rocket company, is designing a set of reusable rockets and spacecraft to send paying passengers on short trips into space. Yang Yiqiang, the founder of CAS Space, told China Daily on Wednesday if everything goes according to plan, the combination of the rocket and spaceship will become mature after at least 15 test flights and will be able to     1     up to seven tourists per trip to an altitude of more than 100 kilometers, about 10 times the cruising altitude of a     2     jetliner.

6 . It sounds like something from the field of science fiction — a space exploration into vast outer space, heading towards the Red Planet While we’re not quite ready to put a person on it, the question we ask today is:     1    

The space race saw the USSR (the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) and USA compete to achieve firsts in spaceflight. The USSR released Sputnik 1, an artificial satellite, before anyone else,     2     Now it appears that Mars is the body of desire. While to be the first nation to land on it is an obvious draw, there are other reasons why we want to get there.

    3     You only have to look at the fossils of the dinosaurs to see the benefit of finding another habitable planet. While Mars doesn’t have the right conditions to call it home just yet, there's always the concept of terraforming-changing the environment of a planet to suit our needs.

However, not everyone agrees. Leading astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has said the concept of changing habitability of a planet is not always practical.     4    

It seems that the main reason at the moment is the search for alien (外星的) life.    5     Now seemingly dead, the potential fossils could answer questions about our own evolution and that of our planet. One theory is that bacterial life on our planet didn't start here, but was brought here via asteroid from Mars.
