World Wetlands Day, celebrating annually on 2 February, aims to increase aware and understanding of the importance of wetlands to humans and the globe. It also spreads information about what valuable wetlands are and encourages individuals and governments to take actions to prevent their loss. The day was first organized by a group of environmentalist who wanted to celebrate and protect wetlands.
Wetlands are ecosystems which water is the primary factor controlling the environment and the associated plant and animal life. Wetlands are disappearing at a rate three times fast than forests, making them the Earth’s most threatened ecosystems. Human activities, such as agriculture development, urbanization, pollution, overfishing and climate change, have contributed the loss of wetlands.
Actions needed to save the world’s wetlands from disappearing and restore those we have already lost. That’s because of wetlands provide critical habitats for a vast variety of wildlife, offering valuable opportunities for outdoor recreation, and play a crucial role in flood control.

Dear David,
How are you doing these days? Yesterday, my class has had a discussion about how to lead a low-carbon life. I was impressing by some of the ideas and would like to share them to you.
In the meeting, we shared various tip for leading a low-carbon life. It turns out that adopting a greener lifestyle is not difficult at all. For example, we can get into the habit of turning on lights and taps when not use them. You can also use reusable cloth bags when we shop. In additional, we can make fashionable to use handkerchiefs instead of tissues.
How does your country promote low-carbon lifestyles and encourage people to protect an environment? I’m looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

One Saturday afternoon, Li Hua and Wang Ping was having an environmental protection activity near the rivers when they catch sight of a bird on the ground. They picked it out and found it wounded. Thinking it might die without timely help, they took it to home. They made a nest for it but fed it with rice and water. Under their treatment and care, the lucky birds got recovered soon. When time came for them fly the bird back to nature, they felt a bit pity but very delighting. I think it`s worthwhile for him to do such a thing. Here I call on the public to show respect to nature. Only by changing the way we treat the environment can we get along good with it.
