The car was divided nearly in two, and the tree was where the driver’s seat ought to have been, as if planted there. There was 16-year-old Thompson, his terrified face pressed against the driver’s side window, in great pain. Dan tried putting out the fire with his buckets of water with no success. “When the flames got into the front seats, I realized I had to get him out of there.” he told WAGM-TV.
“I feel like I just did what had to be done.” said Dan. Regardless of his own safety, Dan opened the car’s back door and crawled in. Thompson was struggling to get free. Dan said, “That’s when I noticed how bad his legs were.” Using a pocket knife, he cut off Thompson’s seat belt. Dan pulled him out of the window of the vehicle, and then dragged him to safety before the entire car was engulfed in flames. Although Thompson suffered serious injuries in his legs, he looked great, smiling. Dan thought about that day often. “There was a voice deep down telling me to act at once.” He said.

First he filled a bucket with water from the bathroom and threw water over his mother and her bed. Then, with a wet cloth around his head he went back to the garden.
He could hear the fire engine coming up, but how would the firemen find his mother in the smoke-filled house where flames had almost swallowed up the ground floor?

In time, Jerry and her mother teamed up with the US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to make a video. They want to get the point across that texting while driving can have life-transforming consequences.
In the video Jerry appealed to drivers not to text while driving. She admitted she was checking and sending messages via her phone when she crashed her car into the back of the truck.
“Don’t text your loved ones when you know they’re driving,” said Jerry’s mother. “It can change their lives forever.”

4 . ROME— four people, including the wife of the factory's owner, died on Wednesday after explosions （爆炸）at the Barcelona Pozzo di Gotto fireworks company, Italian media reported.
According to online reports by La Republic and TGCOM24, at least one other person is missing and three others are seriously injured, with two of them in dangerous condition. French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his sadness on Twitter. “Notre-Dame of Paris in flames,” reads an English translation of his statement. “Emotion for a whole nation. Thoughts for all Catholics and for all the French. Like all our countrymen, I’m sad together to see this part of us burn.” Other politicians, including Melanis Trump, London Mayor Sadiq Khan, U. K. Witnesses said many people and vehicles, including two buses carrying more than 100 passengers, were under the bridge when it fell. 9 . On 2 September, 1666, the citizens of London woke to see the city's crowded wooden houses on fire. The fire started in a baker's shop in Pudding Lane in the early hours of the morning. By the time it burned Alit Otis 5 September around 13, 000 buildings had been destroyed, including the original St Paul's Cathedral, 87 churches and 52 company halls. The major roads were widened to reduce the risk of fires spreading in futile. For the same reason, buildings were constructed largely from brick and stone instead of wood. Guidelines were also made for the height of houses and about how much wood could be used on the outside. Although others designed and rebuilt many properties in Lincoln after the Great Fire, Wren was the most productive architect.
