1 . A fashion blogger in her late 70s proved that fashion is for all ages as she showcased different styles and outfits on social media.
For Candace Leslie Cima, aging is inescapable but it shouldn’t keep older people in a box, especially when it comes to beauty and fashion. That she’s old doesn’t mean she can’t wear beautiful and stylish clothes. This is what Cima always tells people when they question her fashion statement.
Cima’s journey to challenging aging began when she created her social media account at 72. She wanted to know what influencers were like and discovered there weren’t many of them in her age group. This inspired her to create her own fashion blog and upload fashion videos on social media platforms.
Cima grew her social media presence through her ongoing documentation called “Life in My 70s”. Her videos became famous on the Internet and gained millions of views. One of her most popular videos had 7.5 million views while the other one had 5.6 million views.
A lot of her viewers were amazed by her creativity in mixing and matching different fashion pieces. Others admired her for looking really good at her age and wearing whatever she wanted. One of the commenters wrote, “If I’m not like this when I am older, then I don’t ever want to be 75.”
Apart from uploading fashion videos, Cima is also devoted to her fashion blog where she writes about fashion and aging. Her blog’s goal is to inspire women from all walks of life and to remind them that aging is a natural but beautiful process that no one should be scared of. She wants to inspire women to accept these changes and look at them positively.
“The only way that view is going to change is that we as older women show them that aging is a gift, something to be accepted, value d and shared,” the fashion blogger wrote.

8 . School uniform may not be my favorite clothing, but if I were given the choice, I wouldn’t throw it away. Wearing a uniform is an important part of being a school student.
“Uniforms show that you belong to an organization. Wearing it says we’re all in this together,” Jason Wing, head teacher at the Neale-Wade Academy, says. “Also, if you wear your uniform with pride, it means you are half way to being respectful (恭敬的) buying into what the organization is all about.” Ashley Harris, a twelfth grader who has been wearing school uniforms for a whole year, told that she felt proud when she said goodbye to her neighbors every morning. “I feel happy to study in Beconsfield High School. The teachers are wonderful. It’s pleasant that people know I am a student of the school through my uniform,” she explained.
That said, a number of students think uniforms are “childish”. But some people believe that a school uniform can help students pay attention to schoolwork. Maybe more importantly, a uniform means students don’t have to worry about being laughed at by others when it comes to their clothes. In America, where most schools do not have a uniform, about 160, 000 children miss school everyday because of fear of being bullied (欺负) by other students. This might not be directly connected to what they’re wearing, but having a uniform can mean being safe for many students who might be bullied.
Although wearing a school uniform is less expensive than buying many other clothes, uniforms can still be pricey. Many schools have their own supplier (供应商), and wearing cheaper uniforms can result in punishment if the uniform isn’t made by the supplier. Recently a meeting about the cost of school uniforms across England was held. The education minister David Laws said the practice of using one uniform supplier would end, which could help families with the cost of school uniforms.
Anyway, my uniform might not be what I would wear in my time, but it gives me a sense of belonging. School uniform isn’t fashionable, but that’s exactly why I think it should stay.
