1 . Born and raised in Dunhuang, Northwest China’s Gansu Province, Yao Yanbei has long been lost in the cultural heritage of the city. She ______ to Dunhuang as a promising ______ after graduating from a college in Xiamen.

2 . A back injury drove Briton Rose Oliver to tai chi, which led her to her husband and then took both of them to China. Twenty years ago, Oliver’s back injury ________ her childhood dream of becoming a ballet dancer. But the injury did ________ her to tai chi, a martial art typically practiced in slow motion.
