Read!

Before you leave, you should find some information about the place, such as its geography, history and people. You can know that place better by reading.

Take photos!

If you want to take some photos, remember to choose the most special sights. Don’t choose the sight you can see in other places. For example, Qingdao and Ningbo are coastal cities, so don’t only take photos of the sea. You should take photos of something else, too.

Taste!

You’d better taste some specials in the area. Food in some places is very delicious. So why not taste it? Maybe you have just one chance to taste it in your life.

Write!

When you visit a place, you should take a pen and a notebook, so you can write down what you see and what you think during the trip.

Middle school students have far too much homework. They usually have to sit up three or four hours every night doing their homework. Now one school in my hometown has made a rule of limiting (限制) homework. The homework is limited to an hour a day and the students have no homework on the weekend. I think this is an excellent idea that will allow (允许) students to live better and healthier lives.

Less homework will give students more time to enjoy other pastimes (休闲娱乐). I have many books which I received as gifts from my parents and friends. They have been kept there on my shelf for several years! Because of homework, I have not read a single one of them. With less homework, students will be freer to develop their interests in art, music and other hobbies.

More time free from homework will get our physical health better. Many students like sports, but they have little time to play football, basketball, volleyball and so on. They hardly have time to have a trip or take part in any social (社会的) activities. They must spend so much time solving math problems and doing grammar exercises. Besides, staying up late to finish their homework leaves many students exhausted (精疲力竭的) in the morning. Not getting enough sleep is not only unpleasant, it also makes students more likely (有可能) to get colds and other illnesses.

It is important for us to learn something about first aid (急救) in our daily life. If a person has an accident, he needs medical care before a doctor comes.     31     First, when a person stops breathing, open his mouth and see if there is anything in his mouth. Second, if a person can’t breathe, try your best to start his breathing at once, using a mouth­to­mouth way.     32     Then take him to the hospital. If a person loses one third of his blood, he may die.

Many accidents may happen at home.     33     When a person is burnt (烧伤的), wash and cool the area of the skin with cold water.     34     When a person is bitten (咬) by an animal, wash the wound (伤口) with cold running water before he is taken to see a doctor.     35     clean it and put a piece of cloth round the cut.

Everybody should know some first aid in order to save other people’s lives.

Since last year, I have worked in a foreign company in my city. I always have lots of work to do. However, no matter how busy I am every day, I won’t forget one important thing. That is to meet my daughter Sally at her school gate on time. After getting home we go to the park in our neighborhood. Sally plays there. I just wait for her. Every time I tell her that it’s time to go back home, Sally answers, “Five more minutes, Dad!” I always smile and say “OK” to her.

“What a patient (有耐心的) father you are! Your kid is so lucky to have a father like you!” Every time I hear such words, I feel that being a father makes me really proud.

In fact, I didn’t use to spend lots of time with Sally. I didn’t change until Tom’s son died in a traffic accident. Tom told me that he never spent much time with his son, not even five minutes a day. I can never forget Tom’s sadness. (3) At that time I decided not to make the same mistake as Tom had made. I think that when my daughter wants more time to play, I will spend more time enjoying being with her.
