Little John was sick. Doctors said he couldn’t live long. A clown (小丑) saw sad John and asked, “Do you know the heaven (天堂) for sick children?”
John said no. Then the clown gave him a bag. “You have to fill it with notes so you can buy your tickets. You cannot die before the bag is full,” the clown said.
“Notes? Sounds interesting, but they’re not useful,” John said.
“They’re special notes. You should write down every good thing you do on it. At night an angel (天使) will come to exchange (交换) the good ones for tickets to heaven,” the clown answered.
It seemed wonderful, so he decided to try. That same day, when John’s mother came to see him, he gave her the best smile. This made her mother happy. Then, he wrote down this and put it in the bag.
The next morning, John ran to see the bag. There was a real ticket to heaven! The ticket made John very excited, and he spent the rest of that day doing everything he knew to cheer up others. For each one of those things, he put a piece of paper in his bag. Every day John counted his new tickets to heaven.
Although he spent many days on this, he never filled the bag. However, John got better and better. Nobody knew how it happened.
