All children experience that moment—the moment when they open their mouth and their mother comes out. “Clean up after yourself, I’m your mother, not your maid.” And my personal favourite is what my mother said, “Eat your dinner. There are kids starving in Africa who would love to have this food.”

I can’t get away from it. For better or worse, my mother is the voice in my head, part of who l am and howl handle my day-to-day life. I almost feel as though the years of advice she poured into me have acquired a life of their own and are helping me make good decisions for my life.

“Grow your own food. It’ll taste better and be healthier. ”And, finally, the words I live by, “If you’re not sure you should, you shouldn’t.”

It’s been a good rule for my whole life. Generally, I know that I should do what’s important anyway. So, if I’m not sure, chances are, I shouldn’t. Once my mom was trying to make a decision and called to talk it over with me. “Well . . . you used to say,” I said, “If you are not sure, you shouldn’t. . . ” We laughed together. Mom is always happy when I quote her, maybe because it’s proof I am paying attention.

I have inherited a lot of things from my mother, but what I treasure most is her voice in my head, reminding me that wherever I go and whatever I do, a part of her will always be with me. And every now and then, the voice comes up with something special and something worth passing on.

文章大意:这是说明文。本文介绍了神舟十二号航天员圆满完成首次出舱活动的情况。

Chinese astronauts have performed the country’s first tandem spacewalk (双人太空行走), working forseven hours on the outside of the new Tiangong Station in orbit around the earth. Tiangong’ s construction is a significant step in China’s ambitious space programme.

On June 17, 2021, three astronauts became the first crew of the station, where they’ll remain for threemonths in China’s longest crewed mission to date. On the morning of July 4, two of them left the station for about seven hours of work in the first spacewalk at Tiangong. “The safe return of astronauts Liu Boming andTang Hongbo to the Tianhe core module (核心舱) marks the complete success of the first spacewalk in our country’s space station construction, ”the agency said. “Their task included testing a camera outside the Tianhecore module and testing the station’s robotic arm, which will be used to transfer future modules around the station. . The astronauts installed (安装) foot stops on the robotic arm and with its support, carried out other assembly work, ”the space agency added. 文章大意:这是一篇议论文。本文谈论了皮格马利翁效应在教学中的运用。

Teaching can be fairly challenging. Often you find yourself faced with a class made up of a diverse student body. Catering to each student’s individual needs can be difficult.

As a result, many teachers are looking for research-backed study methods to encourage their students to perform well. The Pygmalion effect is one such method. The Pygmalion is also known as the Rosenthal effect. Psychologist Robert Rosenthal wrote that teachers who hold high expectations of their students have better-performing students than those teachers with low expectations.

According to the Pygmalion effect, people internalize (内化) the labels placed on them by others. Thus, those who receive positive labels from others are found to think more positively of themselves, while those receiving negative labels think negatively of themselves. These ideas of self can affect performance, with positive ideas of self producing better performance.

One way to get students to feel positive in the classroom is by giving them a choice. While the teacher is the authority in the classroom, it’s essential that students feel included. While teachers have to reach certain curriculum (课程) requirements each week, giving students a say in deciding which goals to reach each week may be helpful. Students who take part in the curriculum planning process may perform more positively.

Satisfying a diverse student body can be difficult, but the Pygmalion effect can help improve student performance. Allowing students to engage in a positive classroom environment will help improve performance.

14. What’s the author’s opinion on the Pygmalion effect?
A.Worried.B.Favoured.
C.Indifferent.D.Critical.
15. What is the main idea of the passage?
A.Teaching is fairly challenging.
B.The Pygmalion effect is widly used.
