Robbie Gay is a young boy with a kind heart. He had a horrible start to life, hospitalized twice with brain injuries before entering the foster(寄养) care system. When he was finally adopted by his parents, he was so hurt by his experiences that he was unable to cry.
However, he found therapy(治疗)in a most unlikely place—his local animal shelter. There he took comfort in caring for the older dogs who’d been left behind. “People don’t want older dogs. They only want puppies, “Robbie explained. His ability to empathize(移情)with the older dogs obviously comes from his own shocking experience, as his mom shared, “He knows what it’s like not to be loved and cared for.”
Now in a safe and loving home, he’s able to open his heart completely to these unfortunate dogs and practice compassion. It was this kindness that led him to find his tears again when one of his foster dogs died.
One of the difficulties in caring for the older dogs is that many don’t stay alive for long. But Robbie insists on staying with them right up until they pass away, as he quite rightly says, “I don’t think of when they’re going, I think of how they feel right now.”
Robbie is unusual in that he not only wants to care for aging dogs, he also hopes to foster children when he grows up. He truly shows compassion and understanding, even if it leaves him heartbroken when his four-legged friends depart too soon. Hopefully, Robbie will continue to care for others, through his beautiful heart, continue to heal and feel loved with his wonderful furry family and the human one!

Student scientists from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras recently demonstrated the power of combining hardware with artificial intelligence by developing a water assessment device. The team won the $ 200,000 top prize at IBM’s Global Call For Code Challenge for 2021 for their innovative technology.
Developed by the team that calls itself “Saaf Water,” the device has a lot of uses. The low-cost device could help save millions of lives in India if deployed on the large-scale. It not only senses decontaminated (净化) water but also provides a comprehensive summary of the water quality while suggesting purifying methods.
Using IBM Cloud and IBM Watson, the students developed the tech to especially cater to rural areas in India. Saaf Water was in theory when one of the developer, Hrishikesh Bhandari’s mother fell ill due to unknown consumption of contaminated water, which came from a public ground water source.
“When we came back to Goa, her treatment was going on and the doctor said it’s due to a very rare disease caused due to polluted water,”Bhandari told lndiatimes. Three months into her treatment, Bhandari and her teammates decided to develop Saaf Water in hopes of preventing such kind of disasters.
Saaf Water timely monitors the water and informs the community in real time. In addition, Saaf Water also suggests purification (净化) methods that may be best for different locations and geographies.
Saaf Water’s goal is simple and straightforward. With their breathtaking machine, they give local communities the power to save lives. The data is studied in real time by Saaf Water, which does analysis of the contamination.

Men and The Art of Listening
The world today is moving at a so high pace that we rarely stop to listen to each other. We’ve all been in conversations with someone who we felt wasn’t listening. They may keep looking at their watch or at other people around them. They nod and say yes — but we feel like a stranger talking to a wall.
To listen is to love.
Allowing someone to open up and share their life with us communicates the simple truth: you matter and I care about your life.
When we are with someone who is processing something difficult, to listen with compassion can often look like listening without feeling pressed to solve or advise. It comforts the one who is talking in a silent way. Women tend to be better at this form of listening. They can talk for hours and not necessarily be focused on sharing information.
To listen is to be needed deep down.
A.Listening with compassion. |
B.To listen, therefore, is to love another. |
C.To listen is to support some else quietly. |
D.Instead, they are letting out everything in mind. |
E.Listening is a skill badly missing in today’s world. |
F.We need to be able to talk freely with a friend and know we’ve been heard. |
G.We depend on it that someone may lend a hand if we are really in desperate trouble. |
