Parents, especially those of teenagers, care about their children’s education more than anything     1     (别的). They would do everything for their children. Many of them spend most of their     2     (多余的) time helping their children with studies. If they have no time or can’t do it themselves, they would hire family teachers or     3     (送) their children to after-class schools. It seems as if a better education is all that parents       4     (期待) for children.

How can we explain the present situation? First of all, many parents have     5     (意识到) that future success     6     (取决于) more and more on skills and education. Secondly, in a competitive (竞争的)     7     (社会) there are both losers and     8     (胜利者). Those who have better skills and more knowledge will enjoy more opportunities.

Certainly, it is     9     (重要的) to learn to succeed, but the first thing to learn is how to survive (生存), how to be a qualified citizen (合格的公民). If this is     10     (包括) in good education, the children will surely have a bright future and be healthy in body and mind.
