Today, I made a trip to observe Tibetan antelopes. I was struck by their beauty when I watched them moving slowly across the green grass. Also I was reminded     1     the danger they are in. They are being hunted     2     (illegal) for their valuable fur.

My guide Zhaxi told me     3     1980s and 1990s were bad times for the Tibetan antelope,     4     population dropped sharply because of shooting and habitat loss. Luckily, the government     5    (take) effective measures to save this species. Zhaxi and other volunteers watched over the antelopes to keep     6    (they) safe from attacks. Finally, with all of the     7     (effort), the antelope population has recovered and in June 2015, the Tibetan antelope     8     (remove) from the endangered species list. However, the government does not intend     9     (stop) the protection programmes, because the threats to the Tibetan antelope have not yet disappeared.

There is a long way to go to protect wildlife. Only when we learn to exist in harmony with nature can we stop     10     (be) a threat to wildlife and to our planet.

The Mingsha Mountain     1     (locate) in Dunhuang city in western China. It is famous for the sounds the wind makes when blowing over the dunes. As you walk through the quicksand, sometimes you can hear loud noises from beneath your     2     (foot). Hence that’s the origin of the name—the Mingsha Mountain.

Lying between the tall sand dunes, there is a little miracle. The spring, which looks like a crescent moon (新月),     3     (exist) for thousands of years, and has never dried up.

The formation and continuous existence of the Crescent Spring     4     (be) all related to its geographic location. The flowing water joins here to form it.     5    average, the evaporation (蒸发) there is more than 60 times     6    of the annual rainfall. Although it’s extremely dry here, the stable water source ensures a     7     (sustain) water supply to the spring. It’s also due to the low-lying land. Whenever there is a sandstorm, it forms     8    upward air flow between the surrounding sand mountains. The air flow sends the sand at the foot back to the top of the sand mountain,     9     (save) the Crescent Spring from being destroyed by quicksand. The Crescent Spring,     10    beauty attracts tourists from home and abroad, has become a romantic paradise for visitors.

Our world has been greatly affected by global warming and it is critical (关键的) that people, young and old, join hands to fight it. Most     1     (important), children today should learn to be eco-friendly at a young age.

It is believed that the nation should ask schools to have     2     educational class about “Green Living”. Every school should teach students     3     (know) about global warming and what they can do to reduce their carbon footprints. In the classes, students could be assigned to find several solutions to energy problems while learning about their effects     4     the earth. Students also should     5     (encourage) to use what they learned in class at home.

Too many people think that global warming is not a threat, but it is one of our     6     (big) problems. Steps taken to be “green” in the school     7     (be) so effective. What would children be learning if the school’s lights were always left on and there were no recycling bins?

Green living and green schools are part of a new wave     8     (sweep) over the nation. How will our future leaders respond after years of living in a community     9     protecting our world’s natural environment just isn’t considered important? Schools and the government should teach young people to devote     10     (they) to dealing with global warming.
