Now I am writing to tell you something about Chinese table manner. Usually, sit around the table, all members of a family has meals together at meal time. The elders and distinguished guests are often seated in the special seats, what shows great respect for them. Chopsticks are used instead for knives and forks. It was often the case that the host family use their chopsticks to put food in your bowl. At the end of the meal don't leave any food in my bowl and you'd better to say thanks to the host.

Do you have any idea of New Year paintings? Knowing as “paper paintings” and “painted pictures”, New Year paintings are a specially art form in Chinese folk culture. Without New Year paintings, our traditional Chinese folk culture would much less colorful. The paintings get such a name because they are most posted during the Chinese New Year holiday for a decoration and they are also accepted as a symbol of New Year’s greetings. In the Song Dynasty New Year paintings are created on a large scale. With the printing techniques improving, the content and forms of New Year paintings became variety. The development of the paintings matured in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, where the art hit its heyday (全盛期). Nowadays there are many printing method of New Year paintings, included woodblock printing, watercolor painting, etc.

There is a tradition in my family. On New Year's Eve, all my relative will come to our house for the feast. As matter of fact, it isn't the food that bring us together but the sense of belonging does. Making dumplings was always of great fun. We put a coin into one of the dumplings. Everybody expects to eat the one with the coin inside, because it is said that whomever gets the coin will have good fortune in the followed year. When my mom serves the dumplings, we help us immediately, hoping to get the good luck of our entirely year. The coin never comes to me and I am pretty sure of that the luck is always there.
