The UK is home to some of the best museums in the world, from awe-inspiring natural history collections, to fun and interactive exhibitions. Here's a round-up of must-visit museums that will keep everyone happy.
Beamish
This living, working museum shows what life was like in North-east England in the 1820s, early 1900s and 1940s. The buildings give a true sense of history. Museum workers are dressed up in period costume, so you'll really feel like you've stepped back in time. You can even buy bread from the 1900s bakery, have a drink in the traditional pub or treat yourself in the old-fashioned sweet shop.
National Justice Museum
The National Justice Museum covers the past and present of law and justice in the UK. During your visit, you'll encounter various historical characters, watch a recreation of a famous court trial, learn about prison reform, and — if you're brave enough — join one of the chilling ghost tours.
Natural History Museum
This iconic London museum has drawn huge crowds for more than 130 years. Inside the famous red-brick building, you'll discover hundreds of fascinating exhibits, including dinosaur skeletons and fossils, a mind-blowing blue whale skeleton, and the Darwin Centre, where you can see hundreds of specimens and hear talks from scientists-and it's free to get in.
The Mary Rose Museum
You'll find The Mary Rose Museum at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, where instead of simply learning the story of Henry VIII's famous ship, which sank in 1545, you'll stand just feet from it. The Mary Rose was raised from the depths of the Solent in 1982 and has been painstakingly conserved for future generations. The huge floor-to-ceiling windows and air-locked viewing balcony give you the chance to see a 16th century warship like never before.

We care about the needs of kids with cancer
Camp quality originated in 1983 in Sydney, Australia. The camp was created to give kids with cancer and their family a place to interact with other children and have an extraordinary summer. Activities are designed with kids in mind such as swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, and even the beloved campfires.
Companions and volunteers
The safety of campers and staff(员工)is of top priority to Camp Quality Arkansas. Each staff member is required to attend a training session. Within these sessions, each potential staff member gets to know the program and then a decision is made to decide whether he or she will fit best in the camp.
“In all of our volunteers we look for adults who can lead with their own actions and have a child-like spirit. This ability to have fun is essential to the success of the camp. While the companions work directly with the campers, we are always on the lookout for volunteers to fill the positions of RNs, certified lifeguards, photographers, and kitchen staff,” said Amber Dovel, volunteer coordinators at Camp Quality Arkansas.
A unique function of the camp is that for each kid a companion is assigned. A companion is a reminder of “hope, courage, and happiness, not only during the week of camp, but all year round,” according to the official website.

At the risk of going against our own advice by weighing down your luggage, we suggest you consider bringing along the following things, which we find particularly useful in Eastern Europe.
Batteries:If your camera, flash,or other appliances run on batteries, bring enough supply along. Certain types of batteries don't exist in Eastern Europe, and those that do often don't last very long.
Calculator: Many travelers find it useful to figure out foreign exchange rates on a calculator. We suggest a credit-card calculator which fits into your wallet or purse.
Cash: We have found it good to have supply of small-unit U.S. bills ($l and $5) to use in hard-currency stores, to buy international train tickets, etc. The hard-currency stores never seem to have the right change, and thus you may lose out without some “pretty cash”on hand.
Electric Current Adapter: If you bring any appliances, remember that the electricity in Eastern Europe uses 220 volts A.C., not the standard 110 volts of North America. A 110 volts appliance will soon burn out when attached to an unchanged 220-volt plug. Get in touch with the Franzus Company, 352 Park Ave. South, New York, NY10010 (tel.212/889-5850), and ask for their booklet, "Foreign Electricity Is No Dark Secret".
Language Tools: One of Europe's big challenges is communicating with the local people since their languages are so different from our own. To help overcome difficulties, you might buy phrasebooks before you go -you won't find them once you are. in Eastern Europe.
If you are interested in learning an Eastern European language in more detail, we recommend the tape course produced by Audio Forum. In each course you listen to native speakers on a tape and follow along in a textbook. You can ask Audio Forum for their catalog at 96 Broad St., Guiford, CT06437 (tel. toll free 800/243-1234).
Money Belt: A money belt is especially helpful when you have many documents to carry around (as you always do in Eastern Europe). The best one we find is made by Eagle Greek Travel Gear, 143 Cedros Ave. (P. O. box.651), Solona Beach, CA 92075 (tel. 6197755 -9399, or toll free 800/874-9925) outside California.
Traveler's Checks: These are necessary. Bring your traveler's checks in small to medium unit ($10, $20, or $50) to change a little bit at a time, so as not to be left with a lot of local money. To be on the safe side, be sure to copy down the check numbers in two places, just in case something happens to the checks.
1. Which of the following sections deal with money matters?A.Cash & Money Belt |
B.Money Belt & Calculator |
C.Cash & Traveler's Checks |

Soon they heard the sea. They were carrying the usual rope, and it was hanging down from the basket of the balloon. At the end of the rope they had tied a metal box. This could hold water, or it could be empty. So they were able to change its weight. It was for use over the sea. They were also carrying some bags of sand.
After the sun rose, the balloon went higher. It went up to 3,000 metres, and the air was very cold. The water in the balloon became ice. Snow fell past the men's basket, and they could see more snow on the ground. The men tried to throw out some more sand; but it was hard. They tried to break the icy sand with their knives, but it was not easy. The work was slow and they were still falling, so they had to drop some whole bags of sand. One of them fell on an icy lake and made a black hole in the ice.
At last they pulled the box into the basket. It was still snowing; so they climbed to get away from the snow. They rose to 5,100 metres! Everything became icy. They were so cold that they decided to land. They came down in Poland heavily but safely. They had travelled 1,797 kilometers from London!

A Tour in Singapore
July was a very wonderful month for me because I had a chance to go to Singapore. It was the first time I went to a foreign country. So I had a special experience.
As the old saying goes,“There is no best in the world, but there is better.” I knew it after I had been to Singapore.
Singapore is called “a Garden City”.The weather is warm the whole year. You can walk under the bluish-green(绿中带蓝的) sky with white clouds in it,and you will be intoxicated(陶醉的) with the sweet flowers and green trees and grasses. When you are having meals,a number of little birds will fly to your plate and share food with you.Singapore is a home for both human and animals.
The students in Singapore are talented. They are zealous(热心的),polite, brave, united and healthy. In the process of making friends with them,we learnt a lot from each other, although we were from different countries and spoke different languages.
The most profound(深远的) thing to me is that the students from Human High School are honest.I still remembered the day that they had to write from memory. They didn’t look around though they sat next to each other.I think it was very good though it was a little thing.
This travel in Singapore made me know a lot.I will never forget it.
Questions:Have you ever been abroad? If so,can you say something about your experience?

List all the reasons why you want to quit. Every night before going to bed, repeat one of the reasons 10 times.
Decide positively that you want to quit. Try to avoid negative thoughts about how difficult it might be. Develop strong personal reasons as well as your health and responsibility to others. For example, think of all the time you waste taking cigarette breaks, rushing out to buy a pack, hunting a light, etc. Set a date for quitting—perhaps a special day like your birthday,a holiday. If you smoke heavily at work, quit during your vacation. Make the date holy seriously, and don't let anything change it. Begin to condition yourself physically; start a modest(适当的)exercise; drink more water; get plenty of rest.
Immediately after quitting...
The first few days after you quit, spend as much free time as possible in places where smoking is prohibited, e.g. libraries, museums, theatres, department stores, etc.
Drink large quantities of water and fruit juice. Try to avoid wine, coffee, and other drinks which remind you of cigarette smoking.
Strike up a conversation with someone instead of a match fora cigarette.
If you miss the feeling of having a cigarette in your hand, play with something else—a pencil, a pen, a ruler. If you miss having something in your mouth, try a fake(仿制的)cigarette.

Those who want to take their chances and postpone — even though there’s no firm date when this pandemic will end — can choose to receive a credit for a future cruise. Just remember: If you choose a credit, you have given up your refund. Cruise companies want you to stick with them, and are offering extra perks(津贴) and credits to keep you on board.

Passengers whose trips have been canceled may opt for a refund or a future cruise credit.
