Yuan Longping,     1     (wide) known as “the Father of Hybrid Rice”, died of illness in Changsha at 1:07 pm on May 22     2     the age of 91, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

Yuan,     3     (bear) in September 1930, had helped China work a great wonder—feeding nearly one-fifth of the world’s population with less than 9 percent of the world’s total land. Yuan has set multiple world records in hybrid rice yields,     4     (make) great contributions to the food security of China and the world. On September 17, 2019, Yuan     5     (award) the “Medal of the Republic” by President Xi Jinping.

Although he was one of China’s most famous scientists, Yuan Longping considered himself as     6     farmer, for he worked the land to do his     7     (agriculture) research. Indeed, his sunburnt face     8     his slim, strong body were just like those of millions of Chinese farmers, for whom he struggled till his     9     (die).

Yuan had two dreams: the first dream is that people can enjoy the cool from the shade of the rice     10     is strong and tall enough. The second dream is that the whole world can plant the rice he developed   all the people in the world are not hungry.
