Everyone fails from time to time. We try to learn from our mistakes and move on, leaving them behind. But one museum is doing quite the opposite. It's a suitcase (展示)for failures, both famous and forgotten.

Inspired by the museum of Broken Relationships in Croatia, Samuel West, a psychologist from Sweden, decided to make our silly mistakes public. He founded the Museum of Failure in 2017. Now the museum is hitting the road, with a traveling exhibition in Shanghai from Jan 18 to March 17. The museum will display over 100 "failed" products from big- name companies such as Nokia, Apple and Coca-Cola.

“I really hope you see that these mega-brands(大牌)that everybody respects screw up too”. West told The New York Times. “I hope that makes you feel less apprehensive(惴惴不安)about learning something new.”

West’s opinion isn't new. The famed German- American physicist Albert Einstein once said, “A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.” This idea has even been embraced by big companies in the US. Silicon Valley, for example, is the home of some of the world's most innovative tech companies. A common slogan is, “Fail fast, fail often.”

However, there are reasons for this. “The best companies are those that encourage failure, embrace out- of -the -box thinking and allow employees to make mistakes and see what happens,” wrote the Simon Casuto of Forbes.

This may lead to carelessness and a lack of effort. Some people are skeptical(存疑的)of this so-called “culture of failure”. They are worried that if failure becomes “a badge(奖章) of honor”, as Wired magazine put it, it may even be seen as “uncool” when someone tries to reduce the risk of failure.

“Sometimes people hide behind failure, when they could have prevented it,” wrote Anna Isaac of The Telegraph.

So it's important that you set apart the two kinds of failure------the kind that shows laziness or incompetence(不足)and the kind that takes you forward. The key is whether you’ve learned something from your mistakes.

And we also see that the greater the city is, the greater the risk is.” Mechelli say that someone who lives in a city is three times more likely to develop psychological problem than someone living in the country.

Kings College researchers, along with city planners, land and building designers and others wanted to learn more about city living and mental illness. So, they created a smartphone app called Urban Mind. They say they wanted to understand how different parts of the urban environment affect mental health.

The researchers found that being outdoors, seeing trees, hearing birdsong, seeing the sky, and feeling in contact with nature were associated with higher levels of mental well-being. They also found that these seeming effects of nature were especially strong in those individuals at greater risk of mental health problems. The Urban Mind Project team says it hopes “the results will inform future urban planning and social policy aimed at improving design and health.”

But many conversations around weight have become an obstacle, not a help, in the campaign to make people healthier. Such prejudiced practices keep people from regular annual exams and prevent the detection of serious hidden conditions.

To practice evidence-based medicine, doctors should stop relying on weight alone as an indicator of health and quickly setting out weight loss to treat health diseases. 【推荐3】People have many different ways to relax during break time at work or school. Smartphones are probably the number one choice for a quick mental vacation. Although it might seem like a good time, the result is opposite, according to a recent study from Rutgers University.

For the study, more than 400 students were asked to finish a set of 20 word puzzles. Halfway through the task, the students were divided into three groups. One group was allowed to take a break and use cellphones to buy things online. The second group was asked to have a rest and buy things using a computer. The last group didn’t take any break at all.

Surprisingly, the group that used their cellphones during the break went back to work feeling the most tired and least motivated to continue. They also had the hardest time solving the remaining word puzzles.

Terri Kurtzberg, co-author of the study, explained that they assumed looking at cellphones during a break would be no different from any other break — but instead, the phone may cause increasing levels of distraction(使人分心的事) that make it difficult to focus attention on work tasks again.

"Cellphones may have this effect because even just seeing your phone activates thoughts of checking messages, connecting with people, and more, in ways that are different than how we use other screens like computers and laptops," Kurtzberg said.

This is echoed by a recent study from the University of Chicago. It found that even if cellphones are turned off or turned face down, their mere presence reduces a person’s cognitive capacity.
