Last Sunday I witnessed a worst storm in years. It came suddenly and went on for over three hours. After lunch, I went into my room to have a rest. The air was hot, but all was quiet. Then a strong wind started to blow into my room. Pieces of paper on my desk flew highly into the air and some flew out the open window. As I ran out to catch it, big drop of rain began to fall. When I returned back into the house, it was raining harder and harder. Then I hear a loud crashing sound from the back of the house. When I ran out to find out that had happened, a big tree had fallen down and broke the top of the backroom.

Last summer, I participated in the Secondary School Program in Harvard. I spent half of the day in my class and homework, and then I'd be free to do I wanted. Since my course was a 8-credit one, it was a lot faster than other summer school course. I had to learn how to keep up with it the pace of my class and study efficient. For me, taking notes were of great help. I also come to know many professors who were available for extra help whenever I needed it. The resources and opportunities combined with the environment here made me want to attending Harvard even more.

Today is Sunday. I've been in Canada for two months. This is first time that I have been away from my family for such a long time. With the help of Katia a roommate of me, I've soon got used to live without my parents around. Katia, like many other Russian girls, are nice and lively. We became friends shortly after we meet each other. Although her English is a little hardly to understand, we enjoy chat and we usually talk a lot about our own families. We're both surprised that Chinese culture or Russian culture are so different. Now, we're planning a small party for the next Sunday. There, Katia will introduce me to some of her friends, one of them has been to China several times. I just can't wait.

Great changes had taken place in our city over the past few years.

It's obvious that it takes on an new look. First of all, fantastically parks and squares are built in the city. There also exists various transportation means, make it convenient to travel around. More importantly, our inner quality improves because society provides us more access to education. Beside, the environment we are living in is becoming more and more beautiful, which adds a lot of to people's overall happy.

In a word, it's the joint efforts of every citizen who make our city better and better.

I visited my aunt in a countryside near the city last week. I was surprising to see that great changes had been taken place in the countryside. Take my aunt’s family for example. We supply preciously trees and flowers to the stores in the cities and have over ten workers working for themselves. Their family’s income reached as much 100,000 yuan last year. Not only did they have a house, a car and computers, they can also afford a trip abroad every year. When asking what else they needed most, they said that they wanted to learn a few English so that they could do business with foreigners directly. To their delighted, my cousin can use that he has learned from university to help them with overseas trade.

I’m delighting to know that you are interested in the new countryside of China. In the past, the roads were narrow, that made it inconvenient to travel around. Usually, a big family was crowded in a small, dark house. So the living conditions were far away from satisfactory. Thanks China’s rural (农村的) reform, many villages have developed rapidly in recent years. The roads are wide and smooth and more and more villager have their own cars. Beside, computers and mobile phones are becoming increasing popular. Many villages has changed into rich, clean and peaceful ones. When you like, I’ll show you around my hometown.
